Default Leupold Scope rings

I have a Browning .270 A bolt with a Swarovski Z6 2-12 30mm tube 50 mill objective. I just had it mounted last night with Leupold scope rings and now I am second guessing myself. The front mount seems secure but the back mount looks like it is just pinched on by the 2 side screws. The base of the ring seems solid enough but looks kind of like a crappy system. Just wondering what people on here think about the Leupold rings&bases. Thanks!

I use Leupold rings and bases on all of my rifles, and I have yet to have a problem.I have put hundreds of rounds through each of my 300RUM rifles and they are still solid despite recoil that is far more than your 270 will produce. The only thing that you need to make sure of,is that you get those rear windage screws tight enough.

For cartridges of .300WM and under that system works well but for heavier recoil cartridges, I'd recommend the dual dovetail system.

I agree that it doesn't appear to be the best system but it sure works.

Rifle weight and scope weight are also factors that need to be considered when choosing scope mounts.A light rifle will recoil more, and put more load on the mounts,as will a heavy scope.A light rifle with a heavy scope, puts the most strain on the mounting system.

I prefer the Leupold DD's.

I will try these out for a season and see how they perform. I know the .270 isnt the biggest gun but the rear mount looks so flimsy the way it is mounted with the windage screws. If it works well I will keep them if i have trouble I guess its new rings! Good to know the 300 doesnt knock them loose!
