Default Browning X bolt to straight?

When I was shouldering the X bolt yesterday I noticed that it seemed that the butt of the stock was sitting high on my shoulder, like only have on and the rest above. It seems that when I looked at the drop at comb was 5/8 and the drop at the heel was 1/2''.Comparing it to my sub moa that has a drop at comb of 3/4 and the drop at heal is 1 1/2''. The sub feels like it sits in the middle of my shoulder. Why is the browning so straight compared to a lot of other rifles? Or am I crazy and don't know what I'm talking about?

No it had a butt pad, maybe I'm just trying to find excuse not to buy one.
