Default Pigeon Burbut Spots

So I am trying like heck to prove to my family that the burbot i see through the hole when ice fishing are not a figment of my imagination.

I went out at least 5 times during the past 14 days (we were on vacation there) specifically targeting them for c&r and pics. I am using big smelt and minnows laying right on the on bottom in 15-20 ft of water various locations... but cant seem to catch one. I mostly went out 8pm and afterwards and fished till dark.

I have moved deeper... almost middle of lake in about 35 ft of water at night. Sonar shows many fish right on bottom grouped together so am I thinking jack pot.. but no luck so I am thinking they are more likely whites (didn't catch any of them either when i jigged for them.)

Any advice on locations on pigeon that have worked for you, technique?

Thanks in advance,

Jay
