I dont think I saw anyone mention that 30-378 Wtby. I dont own one but I suspect its case cap and selection of factory loads (bullet wt) would push it into the flat shooting/l-rge catagory.

I'm sure you couldn't achieve this type of performance with factory loads.

I didn't read all of the posts but off the top of my head, the fastest cartridge out of the box for big game hunting will be the Lazzeroni Firebird, which is their 7mm cal.

As to my flattest shooting rifles, they were chambered in the 7mmstw,the 257wby,the 300RUM,and the 7mmRUM,all which are available in factory rifles.

I have to agree with elkhunter here, those are pretty much the flattest readily available (yes, that is a relative term too) standardized rounds.
I would just add to make sure you pick a rifle with a 26" barrel to get the most out of those big cases.

I have a 223wssm and it is a fast, flat shooter. With 55gr ballistic silvertips the ghogs usually fall over dead before you pull the trigger.

Any where after 2000 yds

I dont think anyone would consider these 2 cal rifles to be considered flat shooters... u want flat shooters, 204, 223, 22-250, 6mm, 25-06, 270wsm, 300 rum, 50 cal BMG if u look at the factory long range trajectory with the listed above are impressive..With home loads they are incrediable...

flat shooter
Like my .280 with 150 grain(the store bought kind). In the bush unless it's on a pipeline, must cutlines are overgrown where we are,300 yards is the max shooting distance for us,this gun is plenty flat and knock down power.

Cooter give your head a shake those are not Weatherbys. My vote would be my 30-378 weatherby and my 257 weatherby.

I would tell you that you had better buy it before I find out where you are buying it from or it might be gone. That sounds like a sweet little pipe.
