Thanksgiving Bull
Well Team I was harvesting my Barley today after dinner and Wookie was Trucking for me, I Promised him that I would go hunting with him if I got some work done. We filled the bin at 5pm so I told him to grab his gear and we headed out. We were in the stands by 5:30 pm, plans were to take an couple hours hunting then back to the combining until the wee hours of the night. I has seen 10 diff Deer tonight but all out of range eating out in the alfalfa field out of range. Just before legal Light ended We had a heavy windstorm come through. I figured that there was not much sense sitting out the last 10 minutes in the wind and grabbed my pull rope up. I had my release already in my pocket and quiver almost locked back onto the bow, when I glanced south on the fence line. There was a Bull Elk coming towards me, I just had time to get my release out of my pocket and snapped back onto the string before he was in the first shooting lane. I waited and he came through the second shooting lane but was moving pretty fast to try for a shot. I waited at full draw he came almost to the third lane and stopped. 20 seconds later he finally decided to walk past me at 10 yards, My arrow hit him perfectly behind the shoulder and he went off on the run crashing through the bush. Wookie was sitting in a diff Stand and it gets really Dark there because of the cover he was half way across the meadow when he heard the bull crashing. He sat down and tried to figure out what to do I used my voice and cow called the Elk and he stopped and looked for the cow. He jumped the fence into the Hay field and walked into the bush. We gave him a couple hours and went into find him. He only went about 20 yards farther from where I had seen him last. Thanks to Wookie, my stepson Nash, and My two brothers Corey and Randy for helping me get this into the truck and home to get skinned. Unfortunately the Wind brought us a little rain tonight so will be waiting for it to dry again

Thanks everyone I am still pumped over the Elk. My little guy was going to take it home with him when his mom took him home, had to pry it out of his hands........lol
