Same bullet/same rifle...pretty similar recoil....hardly enough to worry about. On a T3 Lite, I'd consider a Limbsaver recoil pad a must though....with either chambering.

Default Recoil

I find it in between a 270 and 30-06. Not super heavy recoil but pretty fast sharp little punch.

Between the 270wsm,and the 7mmremag,there isn't much difference in recoil with rifles of the same weight.

I sold my Vanguard SUB MOA 7mmrm for a Browning X-bolt ss 270wsm and I think the 270wsm is way nicer to shoot. The X-bolt is way lighter then the Vanguard but I found the recoil less then the heavy 7. Mind you it might be more the gun then the calibre. Also I was shooting 150gr out of the 7 and only shooting 110s out of the wsm. Go with the 270wsm they are the best.

Since felt recoil is effected by gun fit, weight, balance, recoil pad,and by the bullet weight,a comparison like yours, using two totally different rifles, and different bullet weights, really doesn't prove much about any recoil difference between the two cartridges.

Read what I posted. That's why I said what gun and what bullet I was shooting. Then read the part were I said it was probably more so the gun then the calibre. I was posting for the OP, letting him know my thoughts on the two calibres and the two guns I have had.

To complicate the issue... just get her the Tikka in .270 Win. It will do any job you want, less recoil than either of your current choices.

My wife took over my Tikka T3 LS 270WSM. Actually I bought it when we were still engaged and I wanted her to come out hunting and I wanted something smaller than my 300WM. Soon after I bought the same identical rifle for me.

Both shoot 140gr Accubonds. SHe prefers the factory WS ammo over my reloads.

Taken elk, moose, bears and deer at various distances. All clean kills.

My wife's longest shot was about 400m on her first Mulie Buck-dropped 1 shot. She spent alot of time at the range with me and knew her rifle. Plus the BC reticle in the Leupold VX3 scope helps too.

A 7mmRM with 140-160gr bullets (Accubonds) would be good too. I personally not a fan of the 7mmRM. Too each their own!!
