Just curious if anyone went to Beaver for the opener and if so what were the ice conditions like?

Thanks!

It was incredible. I was there three times today, and each time was better than the last. I plan on making one more trip back before the day is done.

Not much for fish, but I am tired.

Was down to beaver today. Lots of water on the ice, still 2 ft thick but the floodwater is past your rubber boots...

was on the Beaver on Sunday....
talked to the W&F who checks the fish:

Friday was hot, lots of fish, largest kept - 19"...
Saturday - very slow, but still a lot of people...
Sunday - fairly good, I lost 2, kept 1....with V-shape mark on the fin - been told "from the USA hatchery" - info from the W&F

flood water - up to 8", but some` good spots with packes and frozen snow from Friday and Saturday.

I'd be surprised if trout were being transported across the border

goldscud,

The fish mentioned as being from the US are and where transported to Alberta as eyed eggs, raised here and released. It was the first shot of Triploids that Alberta ever received and appeared to be the last of the AF 3N's that will be stocked. Alberta is now raising triploids that are only 3N's not 3N AF's.
BC uses 3N AF's for all it's quality angling waters as there get both bigger & meaner and you don't loose 1/2 of them @ year 2 due to "jacking".

Typical Alberta - we raise 3N's - do it cheaper and poorer. When are we ever going to learn?

Don
