Default Gun for bear protection

Heading out for archery with a buddy but wouldn't mind having a backup to the bear spray if need be. What type of shotgun would you guys suggest? I've only heard anything about the Mossberg Defender. I think that's what it's called. Thanks guys.

Default remmy 7600

Get a remington 7600 carbine, in 30/06 top it with a low power scope and load it up with 220gr bullets. There ya go...and ya got yerself a decent rifle for hunting and such. Although many highly regarded riflemen will surely look down on the pump rifle.
