Lol, it has been run through a filter on Instagram, but the "look" is mostly because my phone got a bit wet in my pocket and was fogged up! I used the filters to get some contrast back into it as best I could.

Pics from my hunting with VislasRok
VR made the long drive out from Sask for the pheasant opener this year. He brought his Vislas, Csilla and Ilde (spelling?).
Ilde is 3 weeks older then my Pudelpointer pup Kiva, and the difference in age was noticeable.
We had Parker and Csilla out on opening morning, in some steep country that holds a lot of birds, all wild. We counted 30+pheasants in the field on the drive in, and we thought we should be able to limit out pretty quick. Well, 3 hours later we had seen half of the 15 roosters that were in the field, but my shooting was beyond horrible. I think I have some pics on another camera from that day, I'll see what I can find.
Anyway, here are a few from the next day. Parker had (has) a chronic limp going on, so he got to rest the next day, so all pics are of Csilla:
Csilla retrieving a snipe I shot to hand.
Csilla with a pheasant I shot.
The wind started to scream shortly after the bird above. Csilla wasn't sure what to think about this crazyness. We bumped into a huge skunk, and I spotted a rooster sneaking into the bullrushes behind us while we were making a hasty retreat.
VR knocked that rooster down into the muck of the drained irrigation reservoir, and Csilla fought the brutal headwind to retrieve another bird to hand (VR has done a fantastic job getting her to finish her retrieves with style).
The above pheasant wasn't quite dead however, and upon taking the bird from Csilla VR got a good pummeling. Note the stinky black goose cr*p mud on his face and glasses.... classic!
Of course, during my ensuing laughter and pointing, the wind grabbed my hat and sent it towards VR's home province. Being the gentleman that he is, VR sent Csilla to fetch, and after some encouragement she picked up my hat and brought it back.
more to come....

PP: Fantastic photos! Thanx for taking the time during the 'festivities' and for posting - great summary of my first AB upland experience. I'd heard about the wind in southern AB...good thing the girl was carrying a little extra weight or she'd have been blown clear to Manitoba!
I didn't believe you when you told me how wiley your AB pheasants are - but first hand experienced was all it took... I think that you guys 'build' 'em just a little different in AB than here in SK...not sure if its due to the CRAZY wind, pressure, unreal habitat or natural selection, but they certainly do offer a great challenge. And, your roosters are MEAN!!! I've never been slapped silly like I was by that loon s--t covered rooster...I'm still picking crap outta my teeth...LOL Thanx again for a great couple of days.
You've all got a great resource in AB - hope it continues that way for you. Have fun huntin' 'em up and keep them photos coming...great to see all the pooches out there doing what they were born to do!

Last water shoot of the year I think.
Last one is poor quality. Was trying the "15 fps" setting on the camera to try to catch the action. In this picture Hank is doing a his lab point on a hen pheasant in the grass. Its kinda fun hunting with a pointing lab.

Pudelpointer is a breed, not a mix like a Labradoodle.
The history of the breed is not agreed upon, but from what I have been able to ascertain, the "pudel" used in creating the breed was not a "poodle" as we know the breed today. The "pudel" used was actually a "Barbet", another French water dog. The "pudel" was crossed with English pointers. I got the description below from Cedarwood Kennel's website.
"The first cross of the Pudel and an English Pointer to establish the new breed took place in Germany in 1881. The sire was "Tell", an English Pointer belonging to Kaiser Frederick III, the dam was a German Hunting Pudel bitch "Molly", owned by Hegewald, a famous Teutonic author on the subject of hunting dogs. The idea behind this breeding was to combine the outstanding natural working abilities of the two great specialists in one dog: The intelligence, water love, retrieving instinct, easy trainability and willingness to please, wrapped into the protective coat of the Pudel with the unending desire to hunt, birdiness, pointing instinct, field nose and endurance of the English Pointer. The Pudelpointer in its home country Germany, has always ranked among the finest performers in tests and in the field, and is sought by those who enjoy and value a dog with desire and drive."

Ahh.. My mistake, looking at the pup I'm guessing the coat is softer than the wirehair breeds? Does the coat burr up badly.

The Pudelpointer coat is quite varied, from quite long and semi soft, to hard and wirey, to very short. The typical (standard) coat is like Kiva's; coarse guard hairs with a dense undercoat. The longer hair on their ears and head are a bit softer. Haven't had her in the burrs yet, but I don't expect them to get matted or anything.
Parker's coat is as short as a GSP's, but is much harder; he has no under fur whatsoever. His hair is almost like porcupine quills and will penetrate your skin if rough housing with him in short sleeves. Parker does not pick up any burrs at all.
Their coat is definitely not as coarse as most GWPs I have seen.

Invest in a neoprene vest for Dakota next year Winger, they help a lot for short haired breeds. You will likely have to re-sew some of it so it fits her (Dakota is a her?) as the vests are cut to fit blocky dogs like labs, not greyhound shaped dogs.
