Markstrom's glove looks like a sattelite dish when it's open. He doesn't even have to move it around, every shot just goes in it.

I think in allot of ways we made him look good, how many times Johnny or Tkatchuk shot in ches, hell most of team. or shoot into his glove. Now Gibson robbed us of points the game prior, not the canucks. frustrating....

Agree how many shots were right at the crest on his chest, but still 47 of then, we should have had one or two more.
Doesn't get any easier as Tampa Bay is next, but we played well last game against them, so let hope for a repeat.

I have no issue with the Canucks. Not sure there is a single player on their team I dislike. And yes, hope they win by 8 tonight!

Yeah I will give that present day Nucks, I dislike less than years past and I do like Petterson (other than when he plays us).
Guys like Bieksa and such though, ugh not a fan.
They can do us a solid and since the Oilers failed to help us. Hahaha

You failed to help yourself first. Oilers are in no position to help anyone. Not even themselves.

Was meant to be a HAHA Moose, I don't expect the Oilers to win anything to help us. Just trying to have a little fun here.

I can't watch game because of 'regional restrictions' which annoys me badly...but it's 3-1 after the first for the Sharks, so don't expect any help in the standings tonight.

5-1 SJ with 4 min left in 2nd. I'm OK with SJ on a run, this is 6 wins in a row for them & they'll be up a point with Flames having 2 games in hand. Calgary obviously inexperienced at these new heights, might as well learn right now what it will take to keep them there.

UGH goodbye 1st place it was a good run, at least we have games at hand, but Sharks need to cool down and we need to pick it up.

Never again will I cheer the Canucks, they are dead to me.
Bring on Tampa, we need to show up and give them a rough go, we have been in every game and the couple we lost, one was a game where nothing went our way for puck luck, and the other was a HOT goalie.
We're good just need to get back to putting 5-6 goals together and show why we have 5 guys with 50+ points.
They need to keep that up.

Quite honestly I think your owner and GM are happy that Thachuk has slowed down. Let's say he did actually stay on pace and had 90+ points this year. As much as I hate to admit it, if he score 90+ points and maintains his "pain the a@#" role, he might be considered one of the most valuable players in the league. I don't think the Flames want to pay him the going rate for that kind of production because he would be the highest paid player on the Flames and they certainly don't want to trade him.

I agree with this for sure, as contract signings are crazy these days. Sports folks are saying Matthews will be the benchmark. Not that I think he is a Matthews but definitely a valuable member of the Flames, and I can see him being the highest paid maybe. Hard to say depending on how much he cools down the rest of the way this season. If he doesn't put out similar production the rest of this season, I'm sure his inconsistency will play a part.
BSD is up for signing as well and unless we trade for a proven starter and they make him the true starter, he will require a raise for sure.
Will be interesting for sure.
Projected lineup has BSD starting tonight. Big game

Lets hope there is a way to hold this "Core" group together. I trust our GM. I think that Nylander's signing is going to be the base point. So far he has not proven to be anywhere near that valuable. He has 10 points in 30 games. This could come back to haunt the leafs and influence GM's throughout the league.

Brad will be able to hold it together easily if he wants to, available money likely won't be the issue, the issue will be holding out due to big asks. Bennett, Tkachuck, Hathaway, Mangiapane, Prout, Smith, Rittich, Bouma, and Murphy's contracts all expire in the summer, indicating an approx. cap space of $13.4M. Notables to resign include Bennett, Tkachuck, and Rittich. I'm estimating, but I'd think $2.5M for Bennet, $7M for Tkachuck, and $3M for Rittich is reasonable, leaving about $5M in space assuming the cap goes up like everyone expects it to.

If you think Rittich is going to sign for 3 million then you must also think 1 of the following

1. The Flames are going no where in the playoff
or
2, Smith will take back the #1 role
or
3. The Flames are signing another #1 goaltender.

If you believe Rittich is your #1 and lets say the Flames make it to the Conference final, do you really think he will sign as the cheapest #1 in the league?

Also I would add 1 to 1.5 to all your other estimates. Any player that is not bouncing between the NHL and AHL is making 2 million unless they were a surprise pick up on a PTO. So I think Hathaway will be in the 2 million range and Bennnet will 3.5 to 4 million, but both on 2-3 year deals.

If Thachuk takes 7 million he will be the best deal in the league. 50 points his first 2 seasons and I figure he will hit 70-75 this season. The difference with Thachuk he brings something other than scoring in contrast to Monahan and Lindholm. Also I think Calgary 2nd line is so good because it is driven by 2 player (Backlund and Thachuk) as opposed to being driven by the center alone. And Thachuk is going to want term, hard to ask him to accept 7 million a year, 6 years from now.

But if he does land those contract numbers, Calgary is going to be in really good shape player and cap wise.

I agree completely BD....and that scares me a bit.., but I think that's a pretty fair assessment all around. Having said that, I think that still leaves them in a decent position if they want to do some trading and acquisition in the next couple weeks. I will be curious to see what moves, if any, they make.

The Flames look like they came to play...but Tampa just looks scary. 3-0 now.

Do we blame Rittich?

3 goals on 11 shots?

That's one back quickly on 5 on 3...still 1:35 left in pp.

I don't blame Rittich for any of those goals.
