Same for me. Tried multiple depths, hooks, baits, presentations. Just a slow couple days.

So here's one for ya....Len Thompson 00 five of diamonds.....140' of water if your seeing bait/fish on the sonar.....drop'er down to the bottom....reel up at various speeds....that little bugger produces fish.
I prefer the deeper water when trying this cuz it gives lakers more time to make thier mind up and what's a little snack even when your not hungry but had to chase to have a looksie....
Probably the greatest lure ever made.

Lake has been getting hammered for several years now. Think the fish are getting educated.

It sure seems like it some days. We fished all day Friday and Saturday. Between my friend and I we landed 3 and lost 4. A big difference from the numbers we were catching mid January early February. Fish or no fish , Cold Lake is always a treat . The locals we have met on the ice are super nice, top notch people. Worth the 3 hour drive there and 3 hour drive back home. I guess that's why its called Fishing and not Catching

Luv your attitude...people miss the adventure of a trip if they solely wrap it around catching...
Weather turning warm for the rest of March....now it's go time starting tomorrow for the rest of March then into Saskatchewan for a bit....I prefer if Mother Nature allows it to be sitting outside....truck blocking the little bit of the wind and the sun on my face
Glad you enjoyed the lake and area.

First time
Fished cold lake for the first time this past weekend, three of us got 3 trout on sat and 4 on Sunday. Thanks to everyone on this thread for all the tips. We stayed a 70 feet both days using shiners on tube jigs and air plane jigs.

So went out yesterday in the bay just to the right off the provincial campground launch....be very careful....wankers are netting there....you will see two mounds of snow piled up about 50 yards apart marking thier nets ends but when they move they do not mark the existing 2'X3' ish holes....this is in approx 10' of water....
Now with the slight freezing temps the surface will freeze and with a skiff of snow it will cover over a potential serious hazard....
I don't mind people doing what they can legally but think about others who will enjoy a little fishing....jeepers.
Oh and I did call it in too.....

Has anyone tried getting on the lake from the Provincial Park or French Bay launches today? I'm assuming they closed the gates at the Provincial Park but I wasn't sure about French Bay.

Heading out In a bit will, report back but was out in front of the ski hill area yesterday from the French bay access area and it was open....always can access from the marina onto the lake...just a thought.
Really windy today....fishing is tuff for some reason as they just don't want to bite...lakers that is.....long bay was busy but be careful as people are netting and leaving holes unmarked....

Thanks for everyones input in this thread this winter. Keeps us a little safer and with a better idea of how things are going on the big lake.
