Sitting on top of about 18” inches not including drifted in areas which is around 24”.

It’s going to get soupy out here when it warms up.

Catching in 150 fow of water off the bottom Using minnows/dead stick.

Lots of chasers through the water columns just gotta figure out what they want.

All smediums so far!

Better than nothing though.

The normal areas, marina, PP, are still getting driven by trucks and suv’s As the snow roads are packed down but venture off the beaten path and you could be in for a day of recoveries....with all the snow we have had and high winds let’s just say ice travel is ruff a lot of bouncing around due to the snow drifts and if the temps get warm for a few days and don’t dip at night then it’s going to be a gong show out there.

Hope the winds cooperate too.

Update
Just got off the lake with the truck didn’t venture far just tried for pike but there was trucks all over the lake. with the warm temps over the last few days seems to be about a foot of slush so with good tires and four wheel drive you should have no issues.

The other day I was running and gunning with the quad, slow in 90-120 fow water but at 150fow I iced six in an hour four right off the bottom on the dead stick, the other two came out of no where but close to the bottom too.
4-6” herring single treble mid section get down with a lead weight attached 18” of flouro to the treble.
White tc Moto was getting picked off too.

Well we are on them again, so far all smeadiums but man what a beauty day out here!
March madness at its finest.
People are driving all over the lake with trucks etc
We took the quads as it is melting fast out here and I don’t want to have any issues getting around.

Just to let all know the PP ramp is all chewed up with deep ruts from vehicles trying to get up the ramp

Parked up top and drove the quads out which I recommend doing, some coming off later tonight are in for a interesting ride off the ice.

Looking good Greg!

Cold Lake seems to be one of the few lakes that has been following typical hardwater patterns this season. Good to see it turning on right on cue.

My son was up so it was fish at all cost, high winds, rain, sleet, snow just kept circling us but by 4pm it stopped for the most part.
Small white tube jig on the bottom with slight jigs was working but not as well as the smelt/herring on the bottom.....clean, repair, restock, rest then back at it tomorrow

Hey all, wondering if anyone knows, and of course willing to share lake, access, and travel conditions on the west side of Cold Lake. Coming from Edmonton area this weekend in an SUV - coming prepared to walk on, but of course driving on would be nice. Also looking to pop into Marie and give the pike, walleye, whitefish a try one day too - any info on access/lake conditions there are appreciated as well. Heading up regardless of replies, but thanks in advance.

Not sure about west access to the lake but the PP and marina are very rough and torn up.
Get on in the morning and depending on how warm it gets your in for a treat to get off in a truck later on in the day.
I have been using my quad(s) for that reason alone ya never know what your up against getting off.

Just an update the melt was good and cleaned up the PP boat launch so no issues getting on the ice.
Gonna hunker down on the hump 150fow like before and see what happens, good luck out there!

I was told cold lake marina mishap!
Gotta be careful as the warm temps we had has made the areas close to shore questionable.

Well hooked up with the West Country outlaw crew for two days on the ice. Day one was blizzard like conditions with visibility limited to 50 yards at the best of times, gps acting up so getting to my preferred spot was a gong show and I thought they must think I am on something!
A few fish were caught that later afternoon but the next day was a beauty, clear skies, sunshine, slight breeze so it was go time.
Managed 9 through the ice, a lot of missed strikes, chasers but who could complain the conditions were awesome!
Ohh the company too, toss in some great wild game sausages, pepperoni, the odd mishap, and a lot of shared outdoor stories man what a day!
