Yes. Still lots of ice. The PP launch is getting pretty soft and wet. But once you're passed that, you're good to go.

Was anyone out today. And if so how was the fishing. We’re counting down the days to the weekend for our ice season closer.

I've never been to Cold Lake this late in the year. Will the ice and access still be okay for a large diesel truck? I assume it still will be for smaller vehicles at this point.
I usually access via the PP. We will still walk out if we're unable to drive, but I'm trying to get a gauge for it.
Hope to have some pictures to add to the thread on Saturday.

I'm hoping to get out middle of next week.. Hope the ice hangs in there another couple weeks. It was already getting soft last week.

People still driving on via the PP as of today. Lots of water sitting on top but still not chunky when drilling. Launch looks ugly but hanging in there so far.
We have been doing the last few mornings for lakers and today they were real lazy, 3 out of the 4 we got were on the dead baits. With that said we only managed 10 on the ice between Wednesday and Thursday morning but the fish were a lot more active with more chasing, missed, lost etc.
Going to head out for one more morning tommorow

Do the lakers typically move to deeper water in the warmth of spring? Seeing minimal fish around my last few spots that were successful in February and early March at 130’

They typically are closer to the surface in spring and early summer or in shallow water.

Seems like they have been all over this week, just have to keep drilling and checking, conditions have been perfect for it. Wednesday we were seeing and catching fish from 60'-90, Thursday seeing them at the same depths but not a single bite or hooked fish any shallower than 125', anywhere from 125-145 seemed to get more action. Friday a bit deeper again 125+ but slower all around.
Today hit a quieter area of the lake being the weekend and hit them pretty good from 10-1:30 in 60-95'. We got 12 on the ice, lost at least that many and one big big burbot. Wish I wouldn't have left that spot till the last day to be honest lol.

Hi, I’m wondering if people are still driving on or if walking out from the marina is the better option now. I’m coming up on Tuesday for a couple of days. Thanks for any info.

We were on it saturday full size trucks ever where even diesel trucks. West side of lake had hardly any snow cover ,seen a lot of SUV driving around . East side of lake had around 4-8 inches of snow . The lake was solid ice ,no ice melting at all and it was hot saturday . Only place that had a little water was at the Prov. boat launch where we got on . Maybe 2 inches deep and and going out 7 feet only.

A few from the week, not posting to many from yesterday other than the burbot as I get a little paranoid about some spots.
We were using mainly tube jigs, yesterday the big clown tube from Staple Baits was doing good as well as the smaller white version. Also the regular old 1oz. Cold lake special with a little red tinsel tied on the trailer.

Your welcome .
We did not do so well. Hardly seen any lakers in the sonar or even bait fish . Only fished in around 100 ft of water moved a few times with only one landed.
As others have posted they went deeper . I wonder because of the amount of sunlight coming down because of less snow cover . I hope to return next weekend for one more time before open water .

I'm so ready for open water on Cold. Bring on May 15th for 6-7 months of chasing lakers in the boat.

Extremely good, little puddle. A mini van wouldn’t struggle

Well, was supposed to leave for cold lake tomorrow morning for the last trip of the year.. won't be happening. Someone broke into my utility trailer and stole all my fishing gear. Pretty awesome world we live in.
Good luck to all those heading out this week. Stay safe.
