That’s an awesome hunt, great shot too! That’s the memories that we all live for.

Great memories made there. It’s always special to be together for something like this. He will hold on this memory far after the taste of the meat is gone. And hopefully hold it in such high regard that he is able to do it with his children.

I never got this experience with my dad. So I’m trying to do it with him now. He won’t hunt, not even gophers. But I made a dedicated effort to get out fly fishing with him this year.

Congrats to the both of you, not only for the deer, but for the memories and bond that have been forged even deeper.

He tagged it
Then had to hike back to the truck b/c his fingers were freezing.

So I gutted and prepped.... he wanted to haul it out himself.

Last 25-30 yards he was on all fours working up the hill.

Good on him.

Congrats to the young lad, great job and looks like a good workout.
I had to chuckle though when you said he had to pass on this one last year, did it still have milk on its lips last year? LOL
Enjoy the good eating.

He was up against an identical one like this. Yea... I doubt it’s the same one.

But we’ve now seen 4 in this valley like this over the last 4 years. Very minor antler size seems to be the thing here.

The hike and scenery are worth it. Not hunting horn.
