Some folks have no fear of eating CWD meat. Transference to humans has not happened yet and there is still no conclusive evidence it can. If someone wants it and is happy to eat it why waste the meat. I don't see a problem making the offer, it is up to whoever takes the meat to decide what they are comfortable with. If you don't want it, BUTT out.

Well....take this for what it is worth as i wont post any names.....but....my buddy was drawn for mule deer in sask. Harvested a mule deer buck...cut it up and has been eating it since. Never was the head submitted. Today...he got an email stating that SERM thanks him for his submission...but unfortunately his deer has tested positive for cwd. hmmmmm....if this is going on...no wonder the numbers are skyrocketing. I for one will not send a head in as i lived in a zone in sask where they did the big cull. Nothing good came from it.

I would have taken it for wolf bait but I obviously wasn’t thinking because that would be an easy way to spread infected tissue to the West Country.

Well, they have sated that transfer is most likely through brain, spinal cord, urine, feces or saliva.
So you could easily not use any of the packages that lefty wrapped with those labels on them.

For those reasons they specifically tell you it must be landfilled, buried, or incinerated. Cannot be fed to pets or used as bait, ironically you can be charged with wasting it if you do...

I dropped a WT off Nov 13 at South Edm Cabelas and still haven't heard back. Does anyone know how to follow up in case the email was lost?

Call In with the green tag number you retained when the head was dropped off. In my experience the longer the wait the higher the chance of a positive. Two of the heads from bow kills I dropped off took months and both were positive, both mature mule bucks.

Don’t forget to check your TRASH email box, for some reason some emails from AlbertaRELM end up there.

You beat the big rush of deer, they got back quicker as a result.

Not me, private operations do it for the bottom dollar -- this is a test not to mess around with and have done right the first time.

Deer shot close to an end of Nov. came back with positive result in begining of Jan.
Other two from buddies of mine shot about just before end of the season and dropped 4 days after that still have not came back with the results.
Does not make any sense...
