Hanging on.......
The CBC has such accurate and unbiased reporting and has a very centralist view on gun ownership so I`m sure this news story is very accurate....right??? :sHa_sarcast iclol:

So what if there prohibs, he could have just liked the guns themselves. Just because the RCMP mark them as "prohibs" doesn't make them different than another firearm in my opinion. If someone wants to do damage, there going to do damage....just all government bull**** if you ask me....

No
You should maybe do some reading.
You need a P.A.L. (possession acquisition license) to obtain firearms

This article notes he's an EMT and that they believe it to be a personal collection rather than a criminal trafficking thing. Its a shame he chose to do this considering how it will affect wife and child. It looks like my scenario actually has some merit, an EMT is certainly a type that would fall under a decent citizen classification.

Same with me, just saying that he may not be a "bad person" just was willing to take risks to get the "prohibs" that most of us would not take.....hopefully you can understand what I mean lol

The guns are in b.c i will have to get my licence for them obviously, but then they are going in a case on the wall, they are old classic guns.
Back to the real story this guy will get a slap on the hand, who knows though might have just been a collector with out the proper documents, will see as the story unfolds, i hope that is the case though, i would rather have a nice guy with 70 guns even if he did not have a licence then a guy with 70 guns wanting to go on a killing spree.

just FYI, if you are going to do that on a wall that is not a secure room, they have to be made inoperable, inspected and deregistered. Count on a couple hundred dollars each. Don't want to see you get nailed for improper storage of a firearm.

That is true, these are more collectors, just some nice guns to keep on show.

2 Contradicting questions come to mind: 1: if your a career criminal and you have been stopped at the border, and squeaked by thru a lie and border gards not knowing the law with Prohibited weapons, when you got home would you not hide or get rid of all other weapons for fear of a follow up? Dumb criminal.
2: If your a stand up guy, and just like target shooting WTF in trying to smuggle Prohibited weapons into the country?
I could care less if he had 500 guns and 1,000,000 rounds of ammo nothin scary about it , smuggling of the rifles is the real ? as far as surpressors, I wish they were made legal on varmit rifles.lol.

If you are the executor of the Estate the firearms can be in your possession, if stored properly, until the estate is settled.
If you aren't the executor, no you cannot have them until you get your license.

Huh funny last night between my wife and I we went through 2000 rounds of 9mm and about 1000 22's. And we could of kept shooting but thats all I brought. So to me 100,000 really isnt much.... in my eyes at least.

If you do the math that's what , 50 times to the range ?
However, you are not shooting a center fire cartridge in a rifle, but a .22 rifle and a pistol - big difference there.

A bench to "modify" or just plain gunsmith? A few screwdrivers and you got yourself a gun modifying bench. Do these guns look prohibited or are they actually prohibited? Suppressors or muzzle brakes?
You'd be amazed at how many don't understand/know the difference.
If this guy is shady, he should be charge appropriately. If he's clean and a mistake by the police has been made... Public apology.
I know gun collecters with hundreds if not over one thousand guns.

Sorry cat your right about the difference between rifle and pistol but we have shot over 500 rounds of .308 in a day in the AR, and most people don't even keep that many rounds in their house. I know difference but in the end it really doesn't matter if you have 1,000,000 rounds, if you can only put 5 in at a time then what is the big deal of how much ammo one person has?

The thing I can't get my head around is if I have 50lbs. of powder in a residence I'm in breach of the law - get onto the press and load it all, and I'm now "okay" !!
Simply does not make sense!
Most of my rifles I can only put one into at a time- hardly
"bank hold up hardware!!

Not if he's the executor of the estate, the firearm is inherited and the legally grandfathered owner is deceased. All he needs at that point is a Will. He then has a "reasonable" amount of time to get his license with "prohibited" status and then transfer the firearms into his name. The Will acts as a license in the interim.

Cat you make me laugh, as a Pierson with a single shot rifle that knows how to use it is way more dangerous than some one with a full auto that does not know how to shoot one accurately. single shot users generaly one shot one kill, and most single shot users can reload reasonably fast.

If a civilian has 100k rounds and 100 guns (just rounding up for simplicity),
that can quickly be converted into
100 armed men with 1000 rounds each.
This can easily be taken as a security threat.

Thats hysterical. Everyone I know has 100 friends intent on overthrowing the government, they're just waiting until there's a musket for each man, woman and child before they overthrow the tyrannical imperialist pig-dogs.
On the other hand, when one thinks about it; if large enough numbers of citizens are upset enough against the government shouldn't they have a means of revolution? I mean even our own government sent F-18's to Libya to assist those rebels who were outgunned by their govenrment/dictator, so they seem to get the concept. Thomas Jefferson understood that same concept quite some time ago.
