Just found these 2 sheds yesterday. I have trail cam photos of both the deer and the drop tine buck I saw after hunting season. I searched for 3 hours after but could not find the other side I am heading back once it warms up. The droptine scores 78.5 inches almost 26" main beam smallest circumference is 5" G3 10.5" Just a tank I have a 156 on the wall and he fits inside by 4 inches haha I will attach a pic of him too The pic doesnt do it justice though I didnt think he was this big until I saw him live at 100 yards. I am dying to find the other side.

Found this one this morning... Looked all over for the other side but couldn't find it...The snow is so deep and powdery that I was only able to see the very tip of two of the tines sticking out. Makes me wonder what else is hiding under snow

Nice finds boys.. Im heading out tomo for 2 days to do some hunting.. And what I do is just walk trails walk walk walk.. Find bedding areas and feeding areas try to concentrate on areas where they spend most of their time.. Also any fence crossings where they have to jump is a good spot.. You will find so much information about your hunting areas too when you shed hunt.. Enjoy weather is suppose to be nice next few days

Saw a whitetail buck yesterday packing one antler. I am going to start pounding the fields and deer trails now that I know they're dropping for sure around here.

Yep shed hunting season is here LOVE it.. I have read articles on dogs getting trained for this and I know of a friend who's lab finds some just on his own.. Anyone have experience with this?? Im going to be looking to get a dog in a few years and I will definitely lean towards a dog that can do this for sure...

I've got a young pup in training right now. She is my first dog, so the training is a learning curve, but she is picking it up well. There is a link to a vid of her on page one of this thread. She'll be out with me this spring, hopefully blowing my shed count out of the water...
BTW, nice sheds everyone! I'm going for a look around on Monday, with high hopes after the updates here!

For fields, binos are a good to have, rake... not so much. Scan all around, take advantage of higher view points & take your time looking. I found this set after hiking all afternoon, within 300 yds of the truck on the way back, looking back. So don't give up too easily.
My best tip? Follow deer trails. It's easier walking and you know deer were there. Good luck.

X2, but the deer haven't had the stress of this kind of weather in quite a while. In the past we wouldn't start looking until mid-late Jan.

Early shedsQ
Not good for any deer shedding this early. Hope for an easy winter from now on and an early spring or these deer may not make it.

Hey Guys just got in spent all day walkin no sheds found the fresh snow did not help but I still had fun. I checked my cams and all the little guys are still packin my biggest deer on cam dropped both found 1 and a young 130ish 4x4 dropped both found 1 and a few fawns have dropped there numbs. Friend of mine told me the big guys if they were fighting lots and the rut was hard on them they will drop early.. This is going to be a bad winter that is probably a huge factor too.. Anyone else get out today? any Luck?

Shed'n
Found a couple on New Years Day. Nothing big, a 4 point about 60 inches and a 5 point also about 60 inches. Most bucks around here are still holding on. Only have 1 pic of a buck that has shed on my cams. Will post pics when I get a chance.

This is my hunting season now!!!!!! Scooped 5 horns so far, 1 decent match and 3 singles. i would not say it is any earlier than any other year, but hopefully we will not get bombarded with snow before the big numbers start dropping.
In my experience the big guys drop sooner than the scrubs, just that there fewer of them so finding them is tougher. But that is what keeps a guy going.Good Luck to all you shed hunters!

Went for a walk today but didn't find any. It is tough going with all this deep snow. I may just keep stalking my shed collecting box and pales and do more walking in the spring when the snow is melting. Antlers should show up better then.

Do you have any pics? With this blizzard blowing through, we won't be finding any sheds around these parts any time soon.

sheds
I checked my trailcams again today and have at least 8 different bucks still carrying both horns(between Jan 1 and Jan 8). One forkhorn only has 1 horn but I cant say for sure if the other one was shed or broken off due to picture angle. The snow was almost to my knees in places and still coming down when I left this afternoon. Its looking like its going to be a tough winter for the deer herds.
