Lots just work under the table. I know a guy pays 70 dollars a month for child support because most of the work was under the table. When maintenance sees what you make the last year on paper, the payment is pretty low.

So many don't get this. They have the idea that just because the ex remarries someone who makes more money than you, then that means you have no financial responsibility to the child.
And so many dead beat fathers wonder why their kids want nothing to to with them later in life.
I am in total agreement with you about your argument about responsibility.

Your statement: "Doesn't matter if the guy is rich and the ex can afford to stay home." is beside the point. The poster was just pointing out that if someone goes to zero income, their "X" can be stuck paying what equates to the same amount of money as if they had no custody when in fact they have 50% custody. He isn't talking about visitation, he is referring to a 50/50 custody arrangement.
