x2 The only shortage that has been created is from people hoarding them. Proof of that can be found right in this thread. Once those folks have their lifetime supply of ammo things will get back to normal. I have a couple of bulk boxes (1K rounds) for gophers and I'll buy a bulk box or two at Walmart or Can Tire whenever I get low. I've never had a problem finding 22 lr ammo despite the fear mongering and rumours.

Hmmmm.....when I'm stocking up, I figure a couple cases is just about right. 10K + rounds is minimal. I think I might have a problem though, when I figure in pistol, shotgun, rifle, and rimfire ammo that I have stocked up on...well. It's a lot. probably about a half ton worth......

Let us look at it this way.
We are supporting our ammunition industry.
The ban gun people are going crazy over these purchases.
So, I do not have to tell you boys and girls what to do.
PS: I think I will refer to the anti gun people as ban gun people from now on.
I think "ban gun" speaks more of the truth. If you don't think so please PM me.
Best wishes to you all.

Any store I was in down in the southern States last month all had a 2 box limit on any kind of ammo. We couldn't find ammo for some of the guns we wanted to shoot at the range.

I think there have always been "hoarders"....but before there was a .22lr shortage, we'd be more likely to call them "enthusiasts" or "well-prepared". I think the sad fact is that this shortage has made "hoarders" out of people who'd never buy more than a few hundred rounds at a time previously. I'd normally feel like a big spender if I sprung for even 1 brick of .22lr, but this shortage has me planning on really stocking-up the very next time I see it.
On a side note, 2 small dealers I buy from told me the same answer when I asked THEM what their distributors have said about CCI coming back into stock. The distributors were told (by CCI apparently) that they can't give a firm date on when there will be a shipment. (????) If CCI is cranking-out 4,000,000 rounds a day like they say they are~is all of it staying in the US? Is Canadian money not as good as US dollars? I have a hunch the US, and maybe foreign markets (for some reason) are getting preferential treatment.

^I hear you...lowest road, but it would seem bizarre to me that supply would dry-up in Canada with demand being so high. Heck, I'm shooting Winchester rimfire ammo now, and I'd likely never be using that if CCI was readily available. Last CCI I saw for sale was in a Canadian Tire about 45 minutes north of where I live, and a box of CCI Quiet-22 was $7.99 if memory serves. A 50 round box. I don't use much of that, but it speaks to how crappy the price is for that ammo I can only find there.

It is retarded but the shortages turn everyone into hoarders, or you can't go shooting when you want to.

I was at Cabelas North Edmonton last night and they had some Winchester 333 copper plated 36 grain HP (333 rounds) for $19.99 per box. Picked up 3 boxes myself.
They also had 1000 round boxes of Winchester M22 for $65 for those interested.

I was in prophet River yesterday briefly and they had a pallet load of winchester 22's and 17 HMR just come in.
I think the 22's are 100 packs of hyper vel stuff at 10.99 and the 17 HMR 17 gr at 12.99 per box. I could be wrong as it was busy there and i didn't take time to chat.

i wonder why we are getting as much ammo as we are. i have been able to get what i want with some scrounging and waiting it seems in the states its worse. why arent america first types crying that their home grown ammo is being exported while there is a shortage? im glad ammo makers have enough respect for their customers to supply them all.

Just picked up two buckets of remington gb 36g hp's. Cabelas in edm was quite well stocked when I went in. But I did notice quite few people wandering over to the rimfire rack before I headed to the checkouts. I wouldn't call 2800 rnds hoarding when my wife and I shoot about 600 every camping trip. Well, mostly my wife. Its my job to keep her supplied with 22lr's and 410s. She loves her 10/22 and my Cooey 840 is a fricken laser beam in her hands.

I have no problem finding 22lr, a couple stores I've been to had them although not in the big boxes, just the little 50's. I'm mostly looking for the WMR. Can't seem to find them anywhere....

I feel like this is the best place to say I've got 18,000 CCI mini mags (22lr and 4-5000 (22lr) assoted bulk crap stored up... I guess that makes me a greedy monster though... :-(
(I feel like its stolen gold but I've also got 2 x 8lb Varget jugs for a total of 17 unopened pounds)

Whenever i hear stuff like this it makes me feel the need to buy multiple cases of un-needed ammo just because of the "what if" factor. The even bigger problem is i know where to get some and its taking all my willpower to not spend all my gas money on ammo before i go back to alberta

Was on a US hunting forum last week
Some of the guys say the short supply is ending and they are starting to see ammo on shelves again. they are thinking that supply has now outrun demand and factories are catching up on orders. Evidence they are seeing is a drop in price of 15% on ammo in the US in past few weeks signals the shortage is apparently over.
