I think regardless of what happens on 2012 we will all witness the begining of the end of the world as we know it in our lifetimes. Living in the heart of oil country I wake up everyday and make money doing things that I know future generations will curse us for. I dont think man will die out anytime soon but I do think that the standard of living will be severely affected in adverse ways within the next few generations, I'd say 5 generations from now things will be looking pretty bleak. We are living out the latest Klondike, a neo fur trade era but on a much grander scale and far more destructive in nature. And like those cash grabs of yesterday the efects will not be reversable.

Sorry but you got the date wrong. It's not 12/12/2012 but rather 12/21/2012 which happens to be the winter soltice so it doesn't matter which calender you use it is still the shortest day of the year.

Not the end of the world but rather the end of time, there is a difference.I happen to think that it could/will be something wonderful.
Something like the second coming or perhaps we will finally get to meet E.T.
But then again it could all be a bunch of huey...time will tell.

Remember how some cults thought the world would end at the start of the new millenium? Didn't hear a peep out of them the next day. Man, the power didn't even go out! I still have the stocked-up firewood against my house.

So you are selling the house, cashing in the RRSP and having a hell of a time for the next 4 years?
