Talking Nice Wolf

Well it’s been a roller coaster out there since Thursday… Got a little bear not much bigger than a porcupine providing entertainment on the side. He spotted the quad & ran away. Then he got gutsy and started bluff charging it. Now all he wants to do is make love to it. Did everything to keep him off it but nothing worked. Had to climb out of the stand three times to get him out. Cocky sun of a gun…

Heard some shuffling at 4:30 behind me and caught a glimpse of a wolf. Figured I was busted. Half-hour later I catch another glimpse in front of me just inside the woods. Finally everything’s lined up. Wolf in the crosshairs. ON FUR !! Hit it hard! It didn’t go far but had a tough time finding it. Wound up floating in a pool of water. I was like “ Really” !!

First female wolf for me. Not real big but Awesome non the less.. Maybe 70 lbs. It’s been a great weekend.

Still lots of time left. Maybe I’ll get another bear or wolf... Best of luck out there...

FINALLY!!!!! A BIG CONGRATULATIONS TO YOU POPCAN!!!

Now I want to see 2, 3 and 4, hopefully one is black! Neat place for the first to pick to die in. How long did it take to dry her off? lol

Great bear photos too!

Surprised me when it got back up.
Cute little bear.
I'm glad you finally took a wolf. You have worked harder than most for it.

It's great that your hard work and persistance paid off. I too was surprised it got up. Must have been fun carrying that soggy girl out of the bush on your shoulders. She looked a little skinny, but has quite a large head. Congrats.
Same coloring as the one you missed. Do you think it was same one?

Was really surprised to see it get back up too... It wasn’t the same one from Thursday I don’t think. That one had a few more pounds on it. You guys should have heard the racket them other ones made right after… totally freaked me out. Were they ever flipping. Not far either.

Here's my thought on why it got up.

My theory is the same as it is for the other critters I have seen run after they were shot with a gun or a bow. "The don't realize they are dead!" lol.

If I was dropped and they heard the bang, knowing what I was in for, I would just lay there reliving my life before the light went out.

Glad you connected on the wolf, one generally doesn't need hip waders to bring them in (unlike the odd moose ). That little bear sure has a love on for your quad, those suckers will eat the seats right off them if you don't put the run on em! Cute little bugger.

Congrats on the wolf Popcan!
Once again, your photos are top-notch. Good luck with a bear.

You're braver than I am leaving that bear on your machine...I now carry a spare "junker" seat on my quad while on stand as I've already donated 1 too many to bears.

Yeah tuff when you have to multitask, things run a muck and you end up missing but in the end success.

that was really close, I am sure that you enjoyed the encounter even though you did not get him, I think it would more joy when you get him next time.

Not one, but three cool experiences in the woods.
Thanks for the video and pics.
Hope the rest of the fall is as much fun as the start of the season has been.
