The digital scale said 8 pounds 4 ounces yesterday, it was a good start to the pike season.

Very nice pike Wayne. When you drill holes side by each like you did, does the auger bounce around or is it hard on it? I never thought of that before. Who needs a 10" or bigger if thats all it takes. Thanks for the great pics!

I see you have the buddy heater there. Is it enough to heat your big tent?

Kim that was in Brauns 4 man tent, and the little buddy heater didnt quite cut it for something that big, even with most of the ice covered. I have been using my sunflower heater in the 6 man and it keeps it pretty warm. Need a full sized floor in it tho. The double holes work great, I drill them both at the same time, just overlap the second one a bit and drill them alternately til you are thru the ice. You get pretty wet this way, but I had no problem landing the bigger fish with the double hole. You just have to be careful you dont step in one.

Rather than focusing on the weight of the fish, the better questions is who would you rather kiss, Wayne or the fish???

Good point Wayne, I drill double holes all the time but I usually drill one hole all the way through then the second which is not only difficult to do but seems pretty hard on the auger since I'm drilling all that new ice plus all the water & slush from the first hole! Sometimes common sense leaves town when I show up

Btw, nice pike there especially in the latest pics. I am jealous since I haven't gotten out yet but I will next weekend for sure

Not me, I figure with the 3 inches of black ice on the bottom and the 3 white ice on top its ok for walking, but someone else tried to drive on there last week and ended up on the bottom of the lake. takes a lot more ice before I will drive on
