Just bitch at the grocery teller and gas/oil/coal/wood guy. Taxpayers are paying after all.

Install a wood fireplace. It works for my house and only a couple hundred for the winter during the night, it really does help cut costs. However I'm sorry, I do donate my money to a different charity.

Well I like to think of it as "why waste my time and energy getting stressed over something I literally have no control over, nor can I significantly influence. Moreover investing my time into trying to 'save myself the carbon tax money' is ironically wasting my money because we all know that, 'time = money'"
actually come to think of it, why am I wasting my time repl....
Cheers

Well voting the right way is a start. And if we didn't have such a condescending "we know better" bunch of pinkos in right now, letter writing usually helps.
And what does the carbon tax do? Nothing. The government has a serious spending problem and the higher tax is just an enabler for their shortcomings.
If they want to do something, do something. Let's end fresh water fracturing. It might impact the price of energy, but there are options like produced water, sea water or different technology entirely. And if it costs a little more, at least the money went somewhere, and did something worthwhile.

If you had read the budget, you would know that they are exempt.
Why can't people research before posting false points? First the headline is false, and then stuff likes this gets thrown in.

Not allowed to discuss the "Budget " on here, I'm guessing . The carbon tax is beyond useless in a big province , not everyone can use public transportation to go to work. Just mind numbing stupid , tax the last of the few people still working that will solve the cash flow problem...
Did anyone catch the Joe Cici interview after the budget announcement ??
He was asked if the green energy sector would open up oppurtunitys for Albertans to come up with intellectual property ( I'm guessing patents and what not) .
Joes answer:: there is always an oppurtunity for Albertans to come up with INTER-Lectual property .. Like where do we find these guys?? All I could think of is Paul senior on American chopper yapping about what a good ideer that is. Lol.
They are clueless they want to do something but they don't know what. 8 billion dollars less coming in directly from royalties never mind all the income tax they are going to be short on , they say a 10 bill decifit, betcha by the third quarter they say oh it's 15 . They are clueless .

You take from the rich and give to the poor.... Typical socialist crap.... Nothing new. At the end of this experiment, there will be no rich left.... The bad thing about socialism is that eventually it runs out of other's people money... In case of USSR, they had an enormous natural resources that supported the failing economy. We don't have it here, our resources are locked by the same government....

At least once the carbon tax goes into effect the global warming will be stopped and we won't have to listen to any more jibber-jabber from their cult members.
Why not start it right away? We could be under water by next January.

The tax will cost me an estimated $1K per year but I qualify for a $300 rebate. Who in the hell do they think that they are kidding......lol.
24% of the revenue generated from the carbon tax is accounted for, the other 76% goes into the government slush fund!
Wow!

Not fuel tax related, but been busting my azz for past few months at the plant shutdown.
Think I'm getting ahead til I see mid Apr paystub, $23K in tax paid thus far.
Not worth it working overtime. No incentive to make good money any more, Governments are bandits.
Time to think about early retirement maybe, pump gas, claw back some low income rebates, credits or whatever I can.
Just venting on a nightshift I guess.

It would seem that the line up to get a hold of that hard earned money is only getting longer. I don't think you are far off in your thinking, the working class in this country are getting bent over.
Just joining in your venting on a nightshift.

This is a dumb idea.... the largest sector of the population burning fuels gets rebates while the smallest section gets to pay for it. I dont see how that incentivizes lower consumption.

Good point. I'm sure we'll see a 20 cent/ litre carbon tax in no time.

Can anyone here explain what the NDP are thinking? Like someone just said, socialism works until you run out of other people's money. How do they plan on paying off the deficit they are running? Do they have a long term plan? The party is a bunch of clueless half-wits who have no idea how money works. How do they expect to keep power this way?

I feel your pain Oil companies raising costs 15 cents/litre this week completely uncalled for. They seem to do it every two weeks. Folks don't/won't realize that those price hikes don't only affect recreational driving of private vehicles! At least the tax increase goes to help pay for your kids education and your parents old folks home and not just line some oil company's CEO's pockets!

1. They know they are on the unlimited expense account.
2. They don't care about the deficit, it won't be their problem in 3yrs.
3. The long term plan is to make sure taxpayers have the maximum amount of money taken from them as possible.
4. That's what happens when low information voters elect college kids and union leaders to run a capitalist government.
5. They know they aren't going to keep power, so they may as well have a good time and destroy as much as they can while here.
We should be taking a poll on how long until this thread is deleted.

More taxes
, NDP thinks taxing solves everything, I operate a small business with five vans on the road, my fuel costs are already over the top even the break we are receiving now due to low oil price's are helping abit and now the NDP is clawing that back, with a slumping economy and a mild winter business has been down more than 30% over the past year and a bit. Now as usual the government puts it on the back of average wage earners to pay the bill. I'll benefit soon though because with all this BS going on I will soon get the benefits of the class of under the poverty line Albertans, so with all these new tax measure announced yesterday I'm taking at least a 10% cut in pay sure hope every politician takes the same. I want Ralph back so much for his proposal to make it illegal to run a deficit budget!!! Time to scale back government, recall and revamp every department, replace all the vampire lawyers who run for politics and end up running our government, put economists and business grads with proven track records in their place! We need to pull our borders in for a while and take care of our own, stop worrying about about unfounded global warming, build refinery's, get our production shops back in business, tax the hell out of corporations that out source any part of their business outside of Canada, I want a newfie to answer my call at a Canadian call center or a student in Vancouver NOT a Philippine national or East indian! How bout all call centers go to first nations reserves that are in trouble with extreme poverty! JOBs forever is what this province needs not more taxes and taxes do not create long term sustainable careers. End of rant for now, F... things would be different if a was king!

I'm pretty sure the Wildrose wouldn't have pushed through a tax like this.. The NPD aren't politicians. They are inexperienced children and communists who have no concept of responsibility for the future generations.
