No doubt Al, tough go it was, they learnt quick for sure! Many other factors compounded the lack of shootable Elk,weather was a big factor,food,water...oh ..also the six jet boats running the river!

Ya know, I've shot and been on 8-10 bull kills with my rifle and all of them have a special place in my heart. My best, a 360" bull I shot last year, will most likely be eclipsed when I'm lucky enough to watch an elk teeter over after putting an arrow through his lungs.

I cant WAIT to shoot a bull with my bow. I also cant wait to watch my wife shoot a bull next year or the year after with the rifle. But MAN some of you guys that are knocking em down with the stick and string should feel proud....no matter the size!

Some awsome looking elk, taking them with a bow is awsome and the low hunting pressure that time of year is alot of fun.

My first elk after 7 years of draw applications. Shot in December, 2009. Dont mind the picture being in the dark--thats when we finally got it out of the bush, not when it was shot.

I agree with taking an elk with archery tackle, taking any sized bull (or cow for that matter) you should / would feel proud. I too hope to have that feeling one day.

Default 09 Elk

Here is my 2nd (first was a bit smaller 6x6) and biggest bull to date. I love hunting elk....I called him Growler, his bugle was a deep growl with a bit of a whistle at the end. This was my third year hunting him. I caught him ruttting hard and called him in, usually he wouldn't leave his cows to come in. I passed on a spiker the evening before (at 30 yards) and was glad I did when he came in the next morning....
