I don't know how the success rate is in dog. I do know some breeders who have used it as insurance of a breeding as well as with an uncooperative female, without problem and were successful.
It is used successfully in other animals and like anything else the more demand the better the procedure will become.

internet figures
Some of the US dog sites show 62-100 success with fresh sperm AI. Repeating procedure twice in 3 days often resulted in the higher results. A single AI often accounted for the lower 62% results
using previously frozen sperm for AI in dogs yielded only a 62% success as a ripe egg has to be present when AI is performed as frozen sperm is only alive for up to 5 hours where as fresh can linger for 24 or more hours waiting for a ripe egg.
No known comparisons to different breeds.

Beautiful puppy! I can't imagine my Golden, Rocky, ever being a hunting dog. He tips the scales at 115lbs, what a loaf.

I cant imagine a golden that big
My males have all been working goldens and some as light as 55-65 pounds and very athletic so they looked even faster than they were really running. A really big golden like Rons "Buddy" is probably in the 75-85 pounds but solid muscle and retrieves big geese all day long. 115 pounds sounds St Bernard size?

Golden is long coated separate breed. You might be thinking yellow lab which is short coated lab like black or choc but with yellow coat. they are sometimes referred to as golden labs in Europe and Britain.

I think they would take my life membership back at the CKC for a move like that to create a new breed of dynamite retrievers buddy!
I still have my own big black dynamite retriever (Ozzy) he is just beyond breeding age!!

Female just came available from this litter
Offered it to oldgutpile first as know he was looking but it is up for grabs after that as spoke to breeder this morning. We are flying my male in Wednesday afternoon. Field trial champions and National Field trial dogs on both sides of pedigree.

Sweet looking pup. If my youngest boy wasn't allergic to dogs, we would have a golden retriever. My lil sis had a NA champion show dog. She had 3 litters, some went on to be champion show dogs a few in trials as well.
IMO, most beautiful, gentle breed out there.

getting it done!
Everything but the paperwork to look after. Mom was a fairly hard sell, but I think the breeders are happy it is going to a working/hunting home! 98% closed deal! (Confident enough I am scrambling to pick a name)

going,going,...................gone home with me!
Done deal! Newest addition to my upland addiction is coming home.
My current old girl will have her nose out of joint for a bit, but she will adjust. she might even welcome the help on some of these big bird releases Was out on another 60 bird release today, and the old girl was fighting through belly-deep snow for a lot of it. Sleeping pretty good right now!

nicely done
Saw her pictures today and she looks like a cute little sweety but with attitude.
These will be fully ready to hunt in fall of 2014. November 2013 birthdate is a bonus.
See you Wednesday
Rob

Goldens are great dogs and the pics look like he will be a great hunting dog. Our friends have two goldens who are not hunting dogs and the male comes in at 130lbs. They are chunky goldens for sure but the male is also the largest bodied golden I have ever seen.
