3) Would Will have done the same if it was Dwayne Johnson delivering the joke instead of all 140lbs of Chris Rock?

Having said all that, I can't stand Chris so I enjoyed watching that.
My thoughts exactly when I heard on the news what happened and then seen the vid this am. He was having a good time with the joke, she got mad and must have gave him the look. Then the good dog he is listened to his master. Too bad Rock didn't swing back, that would have been some good tv. I get the husband defending his wife thing though. How and where is a choice he made and will have to live with.

I would not have even known the Oscars were on if it were not for this. What's that saying, there is no such thing as bad press or something like that.

Can someone invite Will Smith to Trudope's next speech?

That's just it. Imagine the dirty things Will's wife must know about him that could absolutely bury him. He slaps Chris Rock over a GJ Jane joke, she got boned by one of her sons friends and somehow got Will to apologize for it on a talk show. Will Smith probably has Epstein levels of stuff going on in the background or is very scared of losing half his fortune.

Still Will Smiths first big hit since Men in Black

Comedy is dead. With every one taking offence to anything said. Where is the comedy going from here. There is was so much wrong with this scene. For the entire womens movement why did she address Rock.
Beside who really cares, the Oscar are dead. Why would you hold an awards show for your craft. I don’t think the average person has an awards night for their job.

Actors acting and I thought Will Smith needed a few more takes to make that look real. Right down to casually walking up,etc. Looked pretty fake to me. Especially the yelling after. Well I guess it worked no one cared to talk about the oscars til now.

Chris Rock and Adam Sandler are pretty good pals and in a lot of movies together. I can already see this one coming out, lol. I can't wait to watch SNL this weekend.

This.
These Hollywood types really think they are something important.
That blood clot Amy Schumer wanted Zelenski to attend.
As if he has nothing better to do.

While I agree it was a bit far, she did not look pleased with his joke.
Now I don't agree with making a joke about someone that has a medical issue with hair loss on national tv, this is not a little stand up comedy show.
Do they need thicker skin? yup because they are actors, and there life is televised.
Would I have slapped the guy if he made a rude joke about my wife if she had a hair loss issue? Sure would have.
Think about it that way, if it was your wife?
I have no time for the virtue signalling leftist hollywood elite, but if it was my wife, I may not have just slapped him

Good for Will Smith. Who wouldn't want to smack Chris Rock? Guy isn't, and never has been even remotely funny.

What a terrible choice to MC the Oscars.

They should have had Ricky Gervais host the Oscars. He would have hurt all of their feelings collectively.

I think it took a few seconds to sink in what was actually said. With what he said after, I do not think this was fake or scripted at all. I am more surprised he didn't remove teeth closed handed. A slap is meant to demean, to pull someone instantly out of a thought without actual breakage like a fist. It was an attitude adjustment.

Nobody hit Ricky Gervais when he hosted, and he was downright crass in previous years. This year's 'joke' was in poor taste, not funny, but nowhere near as inflaming as Gervais has been.

I stopped watching these self-entitled actors congratulating themselves for a number of years now.

They love to tell us how to live our lives... Remember when DiCaprio experienced his first chinook when filming in K country and the climate emergency that created?

Agreed. When a man gets b slapped, it is more demeaning/insulting than getting corked. A man slapping another man is the ultimate insult.

My give a damn meter didn't even twitch over this. The Oscars and Hollywood in general are just one big self congratulatory circle jerk. The moralality and integrity bar is so low to begin with there.

Can a mod say that?

So Smith suckered Rock.
Smith cries.
Jada is a known tramp.
Rock doesn't press charges.

Chris Rock is the better man.

That’s who I wanted slapped right from the beginning.

Actually I didn’t watch, but caught their crass intro from the Rubin Report.
She’s one comedian, who’s routines are pure cringe woke.

From Laughing at the joke one minute, slapping the guy the next, then a crying apology on stage and finally a dance up party later that evening ....

someone needs to be back on their meds I think.

If there was a chance of her getting slapped I would have recorded it.
Thats the only time it would have been worth watching.

Usually when another man gives a guy a big ole bannock slap, it’s just a reminder that “hey… I can kick your arse and we both know it, so here’s a little reminder “
