Between the two I much prefer the jeweled skull, viewed as a piece of art.
The lady might consider expanding on her artistic side, keeping in mind the sale of artwork involving wildlife becomes cumbersome with regards to Alberta laws.

WB...
I think she was originally looking at the artistic side and will probably do that but found it hard to locate skulls to do this as it is cumbersome to buy skulls. I would think there would be plenty of rich oilmen's wives who would buy this as art.
So I suggested that it might be easier if guys brought their skulls to her to get it done...no buying/selling required. She would charge for her services accordingly.
But it appears I was wrong. I don't know the lady or have any connection. ..just tried to expose her to another possible market. I guess that's why they call it market research!

Doing work on other people's skulls is really the only viable market in Alberta if she can draw a clientele.
The lady might want to contact f&w before selling or offering for sale any of her wildlife skulls.
It's a long game for an artist to register wildlife skulls for sale, have them marked,
obtain the permits and then sit through the three year waiting period before the art can legally be sold.

Yah I can see how it might fly for some people, but it doesn't really do anything for me. I prefer the traditional Euro mounts.

No I think it's in poor taste. Takes away whatever dignity that remains of the animal.

Camo dip. Jewels. Chrome not my thing. As for "traditional" look, Painted skulls are traditional In my opinion and have been done for thousands of years. (In some cultures it even honors the animals spirit). Jana Waller does some nice work on her website paintedskulls.com

Would maybe think of doing the chrome, if it looked good in the right room, but I think traditional is pretty hard to beat.

Actually like it! Reminds me a bit of the decorative cows that used to be around downtown Calgary. I wouldn't have a room of them, but one in the garage might be cool.

i think its kewl and an expression of what the hunter was or is like .
or just an outlet for an artist to express them selves...
kinda like rifle stocks sum got sum kewl paint jobs on them. doesnt take away from what it is, i think...

I wouldn't mind the second version on a skull without antlers - like a bear or wolf.

To each his own but I prefer the traditional whitened look. The only thing I would consider for something different is to get the skull carved by an artist similar to this guy;
