Farmer showed me a picture of a pair in his yard on the north side of Pine Lake last summer.

Start with limited tags in private land, problem grizz.
They will fear man again.

From my perspective we shouldn’t be advocating to hunt them yet. The population levels are not large enough to be sustainable or moved off the threatened list. Instead we should be advocating as hunters to continue to allow them to expand, for people/farmers/society to instead learn to coexist with the bears, who are rightfully reclaiming their natural range, and when numbers have stabilized and are sustainable, push for the grizzly bear hunt to be included as a population management tool. Anything less and we only hurt our case and ourselves by entrenching the narrative that bear hunters are trophy hunters and are not concerned with conservation.

I’m sorry, but I believe we have more than enough population to have a hunt. As stated it would be a helpful first step to get them a bit less relaxed around people. West of DV the population has increased significantly, and they are starting to cause issues in the West Country. I know of hunters that had to put a bullet in the dirt between their feet to finally get it to back off. Up in the GP area now and there is way more bears up here. Again, getting very brave.

Close to 10 years ago a buddy was watching a valley with 7 different Grizz at the same time. I have heard numerous reports of the same in the past few years also.

This. It's pretty simple really, problem bear eliminate it. Landowners should have that right, bears and cougars.

Kurt is enjoying a nice bear skin in front of the fire place sipping a bevy!

Most land owners are probably taking this into consideration....time to protect your investment and if critters come calling well ya get a lead pill.

This is simply not the case at all. No one wants the hassle and expense of such things. And if you think the poor farmer overlooking Saskatchewan has problems, then you can only imagine what the ranchers in the shadow of the Rockies are dealing with.

I really cant see land owners taking the risk to shoot shovel and shut up. Who knows what tracking devices have been put on, or in Grizzly Bears. Id be burying it on land that didn't have my name on it.

Wolverine in my horse pasture on Wabamun lake couple years ago. I am trapper with RFMA trapline so guys some idea what one looks like.
PS trapline overrun with grizzly now, could hardly find 'Any' few years ago north of Edson, need to carry 357 magnum now to back them off or give them lead pill if necessary.

I got talking with a guy a month ago and he mentioned last year CO shot 9 grizzlies and dumped them on his wolf bait pile on his trapline. That is south of white court.

Default grizzlies on farmland

A friend of mine had a sow and two cubs on camera in 336 a couple of years ago, not far from Seba Beach. There have been a few spotted around Drayton in recent years too. Wouldn't surprise if a few continued east.

Look up some threads about how far north pronghorn have been spotted. What about the muskox that was shot in Alberta a couple of years ago? Animals move around

More than a few and they are not strays anymore, they are resident bears.

In the late 70s I was the telephone installer for Conklin and Janvier. I knew most everyone in these communities and there was talk back then of one of the locals running into a grizzly north of Janvier on the Christina river. I had no reason to doubt him. He was a trapper/hunter and knew his way in the outdoors.
