Not market related but I had a son last night so that’s positive, The foothills hospital in Calgary isn’t overrun by sick people and people seem to be taking precautions. Once the panic is over there ought to be some stability.

[Q. Who really thinks the risk free rate of return is actually 1/2%. Would anyone in their right mind lend money and accept a 1/2% rate of return? It's totally nuts.
.[/QUOTE]

This is exactly what you are doing when you hold cash in a savings account. You are lending money to the bank at 1/2%.

Both my rental properties are up for renewal in June. Currently being offered 2.19 for 5 years on both. Does a guy take it or keep waiting?

I don’t know what feel more foolish about, refinancing a couple of months ago for another two years because the rate was “too good to refuse” (wasn’t due till June), or not taking a loss and selling the house altogether (market here is already waaaay down from when we bought it), lol.

Sure not the time to sell yet, new mtg rates will heat up the market soon enough

Yea, but that’s not going to protect against a recession... still have no confidence this doesn’t cause a major slow down.

The market in Peace River has been dead for a few years now. Everyone is selling at a discount, some cases a significant one. With what’s coming to the oil industry in Alberta, I don’t think there will be any buyers in the foreseeable future, even if the rates go to zero. I have been thinking about for the past couple of months, lol.

Of course not, but they are reacting to the government finally doing something or appearing to do so.

Well this will probably bite them in the butt then.

People are buying now, because there are "cheap" stocks, so the market is bumping up abit.. But I'm fairly confident this is a dead cat bounce..

(now that I said that.../jinx)..

See what Monday brings, but just insane recovered all losses from yesterday with no solution to the issue.

I think Monday won't be that bad, I still see 15000 in the near future, lots of corps buying back there shares at 25 percent discount.

Positive news even if I am wrong is better then anything negative.

Trader's market......Technical bounce. Things will get worse before they get better. I have a 50 dollar bill ready to invest but I'll wait until it bottoms and retests that bottom. She ain't going to hold onto any gains just yet IMO.

I think it may. The fallout has little to do with companies performance, just peoples perspective. If peoples perspective changes, it will trend back up. Not to sound callous, but I don't think people dying, unless it's alot, will change perspective, and I think it's all about what they are seeing and reading. If it's called an emergency, funding for labs and testing kits increases, testing centers are set up, a health plan is presented, I feel people's fear will subside.

Of course, everything is a guess at this point.

Watched the press conference just now. Pretty sure if the market kept going until now, pretty sure would see a significant drop from where it ended. Will see.

Haha. That’s because you haven’t been reading overnight what I and the White House were reading

Edit: I think today has been very well strategically planned to keep the indexes up, but it won’t hold next week, I don’t think.
