Looking to get out this week, have all my own gear, vehicle, etc....just looking for a partner and somewhere to go. I'm not from Calgary, so I'm not too familiar with fishin spots.

C.

Hey there, looking for someone in Calgary area to ice fish with for the first time of 2012 on the 1st and 2nd. I've got my own gear and transport so let me know if any of you are going out! Don't want to spend a lot of time traveling, so hoping for 1-2 hours from Calgary. PM if interested! Cheers!

Default Just wondering

Hi there,
thinking of going out tomorrow. There are a few of us, also my son (12). We live in Okotoks and I have been a few times on the local lake, never caught anything while ice fishing, still on a learning curve. I am a fisherman, usually fly fishing.
We have some gear and a manual auger, but the blades need replacing.
If there are anyone out there willing to give some Brits a go, please contact me. We have 4x4's and bbq's, just need to be introduced to some good ice fishing.
Also if you could give me some advice on baits and gear, that would be brilliant.
Many thanks
Carl

Hey. The fishing wasn't too bad, and there were a lot of people on the ice. Apparently it is drivable since the majority of people drove and park close to their hole(s). Ice was about 13" in the 4 holes I drilled. As I mainly targeted whites at Sylvan, I suspect I was in too shallow to encounter many pikes. To find pikes, I would head out to where the line of huts is (15+ FOW) and use a tip up while jigging with the first line. I was able to land 7 whites in about 4 hours, and probably seen close to 20 whites and a couple of walleyes, again no pikes nor burbots sighted.

Happy New Year everyone.

I do. I have all the toys for fishing. Thinking about Pinecoulee. Interested? It would not take me long to get ready. What part of the city do you live?

How does one access the western parts of the lake?

Going somewhere on sunday, if its not 15 degrees lol

Not sure what lake to hit, but I know I'll be somewhere. If someone wants to go somewhere, let me know... Could be either a pike or perch day, depends on the weather.. Maybe even a day for the lakers

Thinking of K Country this weekend if the ice down south is not thick enough. Got a six man hub if anyone has the time.
