Hard to say as an Oiler's fan;
Vancouver's goalie absolutely sucked. Two or three of Edmonton's goals were gifts. He was nervous and out of position.
As usual, Nurse and Bouchard look like minor league defenders in their own zone.
Skinner made some decent saves but he is not a number one goalie.
The score was flattering for the Oilers. They couldn't even muster a decent scoring chance when needed.
Two best players in the world? They weren't even the two best players on their shifts.

What do you figure, they'll lose 7-6 then?

No bad for the back-up to the back-up though.

I have said this countless times. Skinner is a decent backup goalie but not one that will take them to the finals. I know this is a team sport but you look at any team who has ever won a Stanley Cup, they never did it with mediocre goaltending.

They learned from that game. Just like with LA . I say Oilers pound them 4 straight.

They may pull things together and make a series of it, they may even come out on top.
Colorado or Dallas on the other hand....
What irks me is that this last game is exactly the kind of game they should have won, not the 1-0 or 2-1 games. You get a lead and the other team has to open things up exposing themselves to a potent offensive counter punch. The Oilers were lucky enough to get a lead and then started resting up for game two. The only effort shown was after the game was squandered away.

Oilers best defence is a strong offence.
It’s their only hope.
Don’t sit on leads like well rounded teams are able to……

Huge oilers fan and just having a hard time with thinking that skinner can hold the fort down. 5 goals last night and other than the zadorov goal they were all weak if you ask me. I just don’t feel like our team is strong enough 5on 5 with goaltending so questionable. Understand the whole team had a brutal game but common skinner get your $&”! Together make a damn save !!!

Wow, that was a great 3rd period and a great finish. Our boys deserved that win.

Lose the first game in the 2nd round of the NHL playoffs and the sky is falling. Goalie sucks, lol. Skinner is part of the reason they are here. As good of chance as winning as any other team. Best of 7 in the second round, not 1.

Skinner hasn’t bin that good, 2 games with questionable goals bein scored on him Iam getting flash backs from the Vegas series last year. (Yikes) He’s gotta be better plain and simple.

Skinner has to absolutely steal a game for the oilers each series from here on in to put Edmonton in the running.
My take.

I wouldn’t go as far as stealing a game, but having a saves percentage above 0.9 would probably help. He was what, 0.79 and 0.84 or something like that so far in these series? And that’s provided there were less than 20 shots on goal by the Canucks in those games?
Edit: No, Canucks had 24 shots and 5 goals in game one and 19 shots and 3 goals in game two.

Another live comment from the reporter in the tear stained flames jersey, strolling aimlessly up and down the deserted red mile wondering where everybody went, ............. your boys are at priddis greens
Let's roll Oilers

So a goal on every 3-4 shots? I guess that’s new.
Imagine how many Florida would score per game.

I have been saying that all year and getting comments like it’s not Skinner it’s the bad defence , quality shots etc To a certain degree yes but he is getting outplayed by a rookie goalie. I cringe every time the opposing team gets a shot. No confidence in Skinner whatsoever. They are not going to win with weak goaltending. He has let in some bad goals that better goalies would stop easily. Kelly Hrudey who obviously knows a lot more about goaltending than me is saying he is letting in some bad goals. The ones that disagreed with me, what do you say now about their goaltending dlllema. It’s frustrating to watch.

He is getting a lot of help from the officials. McDavid and Draisaitl have been crosschecked to the ice on 4 occasions without a call but Nurse gets called for a nudge, Draisaitl gets call when a guy ran into him and Ekholm got a penalty because his stick broke. The bench penalty is a mystery as well, I guess Kane didn't stick the landing.
They were whining about the Oilers power play being too good yesterday so you could see it coming.

Yeah, it goes without saying that when they lose the series, it was bad or biased officiating.
Not the .667 SAV%

Canucks only have 16 shots and Oilers have 40 with 9:30 left but goaltending isn’t an issue ? No depth either. One line can’t do all the work. Before the trade deadline I said they need a goalie. When they decided to go with Skinner I said it’s going to come back and bite them come playoff time.

Ahhh, and just yesterday it was Vancouver stating all the obvious missed calls.

Lol.
They are basically better off playing without goalie but with a sixth man out. That should have been done on that last power play with 8 minutes to go, imo.
