I've been tinkering with loading up some 45 colt with 200 to 250 gr FTX & XTP's, Using H-110 and 4227. I should get close to 1500 FPS out of my Win Legacy 24" bbl.

Saw one at Westcountry in Sundre today. Too gimicky for my taste and if you put a Win 94 but on it, which can apparently be done, it becomes Prohibited. Figure.

I had wondered about that....it baffles me this got classified the way it did in the first place but....we know the decisions that get made are just mind-boggling.

I guess adding a butt stock from a Win 94 would make the overall length and shootability better....but modifying the rifle from the factory specs makes it prohibited?

I think the confusion is with the US regs. It is considered a lever action pistol there and becomes an outlaw short barreled rifle if you add a full stock. It seems to be one of the anomalies where we have more rights north of the border.

Any wisdom about Henry vs Rossi in .45? Which is the better bang for the buck?

Henry are $900 and up in the .357, .45, and .44mag and come in heavier

Rossi are $540 and up in the same calibers and are lighter...

Henry are prettier, Rossi are plain......depends what you want. Check out each of the website on the product.

To me they are more a novelty item but the 44mag does pack a punch. Just have to get used to it. Also with my Rossi, you can't "baby" the lever, you have to cycle it with authority or it doesn't cycle cleanly.

You need to hold on with two hands.

I agree that you need to hold on with two hands; however, I can shoot one no problem and I only weigh 130 lbs. You should have no issues.

Default Rossi

Sorry to butt in. But back to sleep he original question. the Rossi web site states the overall length of the ranch hand is 24" and the law says it must be 660mm(25.98"). Yet They can be purchased one with a non restricted PAL. I just don't want to run into a over jelous fathead with a tape measure.

Then add a full length factory stock, and enjoy not only the fact it's perfectly legal but the ability to actually shoot the thing with some accuracy.

I love mine, even though it's all scratched up it still goes "bang" every time...
