Yeah I guess, and after re-reading that they didnt even run when being shot from a firing line, doesnt really sound like something i'd be into.

Im happy for the guys that are enjoying it however. Accomplishing what they were set out to do. Congrats to all that filled the freezer.

Sounds like the old pioneer stories about lining up the wagon trains beside a herd of buffalo and dropping as many as they could carry haha.

good work boys.

Some would say that is sickening.

Sickening? No, sickening would be letting hired guns mow them down and leave em to rot like what happened with the deer a few years ago. These animals are being used and will be enjoyed. As of 10 minutes ago 24 of 29 hunters had turned heads in today. 2 of them had ear tags from the original release 16 or 17 years ago!

Not sure why so many guys didn't bother coming out - yesterday may have sucked cow wise, but it was an amazing experience nonetheless. If any of the hunters would like to phone in and give some positive feedback, PM me and I'll give you the # I was given. Let's pound those phonelines with good comments!

Default Way to work together guys/gals

This is very good news way to work together. I'm very pumped about the hunt and can't wait for the 19th. It may not be like hunting them in the hills but who cares as it sure is a great way to fill the freezer. Seems like a very effective method for herd number control and that is the main objective here for our military. I would like to give a great big THANK YOU to the people on the base and the organizers of the hunt. TWO GREAT BIG THUMBS UP.

yup they call themselves PETA. just because it is not your cup of tea does not mean you should use the same tactics of PETA and tell everyone to think and act like yourself. If you are not interested in an easy hunt that fills your freezer then feel free to not participate. The only fact is, is that the numbers will need to be controlled one way or another and if it means some guys line up and pick them off, then I am up with that. better than the alternative. The fact that a couple have been shot from the original release goes to show the necessary measures being taken are in fact necessary.

have a fantastic day cacty.

X1000!!! Agree

We'll be out there Thursday night ready to go Friday morning. Fingers crossed to connect with a nice Cow, but super excited for the opportunity. And it's great to hear guys are helping each other out. I wonder if there will be any guys left out there come Friday considering the recent success.

Is the community center tough to find? Is it near the Canex?

Cheers fella's

Just heard from my daughter... she has shot her elk and loaded it on the truck! We are so proud of her! She is the youngest hunter on this special Suffield hunt... 18... and the first female (the only female in the first group)!
It has been an amazing experience for her and she has nothing but positive comments regarding organization, other hunters, the sights, and the entire experience.
We hope this is a positive experience for all and that this continues for years to come, allowing many hunters this experience.
Jerky, steak, sausage, roast..... yum!

When that is all you say, then it is inferred that your stance is one and the same. you can understand that right partner? If you have a disclaimer saying that is not how you feel instead of just a 1 sentence pot stirrer, then I would understand.

This wasent advertised as a 15 day horseback hunt in the mountains.

It is what it is. There was a need for hunters to help clear out some extra elk.
Sounds like they are doing exactly that.

Good on you guys (And Gal!).. Bit jelous here.

Default Ivories

Curious if they are allowing you to pull the ivories before turning in the head?

Glad to hear that things are going well, hopefully this hunt will lead to it being an annual event.

Yes....elk have 2 "ivories" the equivalent to canines in humans....they are considered a valuable trophy. All elk have them bulls and cows.

Obviously never looked in the mouth of a cow elk before. All elk have ivories.
