No ice, just choppy open water. If you go early enough you can tell by the fog where the ice ends.

Went to Spray Lakes yesterday near Sparrowhawk... Walked all the way to the far side of the lake, drilled a few test holes along the way. 6 - 7 Inches all the way across.

The Little bow prov. park campground area (Travers res.) has ice. The Travers Dam campground area (located on the southeast end of Travers res.) does not have ice. Little Bow res. (located east of travers res.) has ice, though I'm not sure how much.

I stand corrected. Drove out to the Travers dam campground this morning and the southeast arm is in fact frozen over. Always take caution in this area and wouldn't recommend driving any time of the year.

Right on thank you. Can you access the lake on the south side? Or is the only access from the boat launch on the north side?

Lakes in Calgary are 7-10 inches. Seems surprisingly thin given the cold temps.

I didn't read it all of course but I didn't see any mention of water temp before freezing temps. We had some +18 days and nice warm weather till, say around a month ago. I would assume the water was warmer then the usual pre-freeze up. Not sure what effect that has.
Thanks for sharing

Strubel Lake had 16" this morning (14" of good ice and a couple of inches of hard pack)
I think I was the only guy who walked on, everyone else was driving on.
