Default Slave Lake disaster

My tournament fishing partner, Marvin Koizumi and myself, Cody Earl are going to donate our $1000.00 Anglers Cup entry fee to the Alberta Red Cross. They will be needed to help support those in and around Slave Lake with temporary housing, clothing, food and the neccessities of life for the many, many who have lost their dreams and memories to these massive forest fires. We hope this donation will show what Albertans and Canadians are all about.

Thanks Rob

Thanks to Ken and all those going to help out. Will try and update while I can. I have some friends and family headed this way to stay at our place until they are able to go back home again, if they're able to go back home again. Looks like I'm going to have a house full but I'm thankful I'm not going through what they are.

I hope BrownBear is ok, anyone heard of him?

What a disaster! Apparently the mayor asked everyone to leave SL.
Someone said they lost water pressure, which makes the fight impossible.
God bless the residents of SL!

If you are able, try to find out what deplaced people are needing, care packages will likely be greatly appreciated.

Thank you for the update.
I wish all the best for him, and of course to everyone in SL.

Has the Provincial Government set up a news channel for information as part of a disaster plan for this fire?

Just talked to my mom. She told me half Slave Lake is burnt. The fire is West bound down the highway, heading towards High Prairie. She is seeing if she will have to evacuate Kinuso and Faust. My buddy that's fighting said they are waiting for the wind and fire to calm down before they send in a crew. Said it's way too dangerous as of now. Also, it is 3 km away from the Gift Lake Settlement.

Wow,,,, Hope everyone is safe. Don't mess around if you are in the area. I've been through several evacuations in the Okanagan. It is real easy to get cut off from safety.

I looked at this site a few days ago, there were 3 fires in Alberta,

Look at the map now!

I'm not sure how quickly the area reports are updated, but it is worth looking at. LOTS of ROAD CLOSURES!

Slave Lake has issued a final evac of town including all media

High Prairie has declared a local state of emergency due to the evacuations of Gift Lake, Atikameg and Whitefish River.

Apparently Suncor and some of the camps have been evacuated as precautionary because of the heavy smoke from the fires up there.

Chisolm has been evacuated.

This is crazy

Anyone in Red Deer, Joe Dumont Fitness will be taking donations of clothing and day to day items for the people of Slave Lake

630 CHED weather forecast for Slave Lake says no rain until Tuesday. Not a good sign.

this isn't a good sign.

CTV crew has been ordered out of Slave Lake. Residents are being told they'll be arrested if they don't leave on their own. Reporter Sean Amato is now watching from outside town.
