World Junior Czechs aren't exactly the Nagano Olympics Czechs. I think Canada can ride this one out. I'm glad Canada managed to finish 1st in the pool. A QF match-up against the Slovaks will provide an easy route to what will likely be a very tough SF game.

" Managed to finish 1st in the pool"?
Not over till the fat lady sings...
I also think the game is over but I am at 85%....You never know what may happen...Canada gets a 5 min major and things could turn quickly....

Does anyone have a link to how the teams are paired in the finals? IE. 1st vs 4th, etc. I can't seem to find it anywhere. Thanks!

1A vs. 4B, 1B vs. 4A, 2A vs. 3B and 2B vs. 3A. Semis has the highest ranked team vs the lowest ranked and then 2 vs 3.

I was wondering the same thing. The only thing I heard was if Canada wins today, they play Slovikia in the quarters and will have 1st in group B pool...
between groups
1 vs 4
2 vs 3

Not playing today. Apparently the results came back cautiously optimistic. Results are being reviewed by experts who will give him a recommendation. Word is that if he can't make it worse by playing, he will play.

LOL....I agree
EDIT...I think she done now
I can't believe the coach did a challenge on that play...Pretty desperate...
I thought it may come down to a goal differential and Canada losing 6-0 but no worries...

Over the years I've come to expect more penalties during these iihf international hockey tournaments.
But what went on in today's game was just absolute non sense those refs were pathetic.

These goal celebrations are getting out of hand also. Do we really need to be “swimming” on the ice when it’s 5 zip? Millennials will be the end of us I swear.

Agree on both points. Those celebrations are embarrassing.

These displays of poor sportsmanship are few and far between, hardly an epidemic. I'd say most players today are respectful of the game. Very disheartening to see a Canadian act like that, especially the captain.

Ah, yes. Those millennials. Teemu Selanne's duck hunting, Tiger Williams' stick riding, Milan Hejduk's swimming, Theo Fleury's sliding down the ice. Those damn millennials
Not to mention the now 33 year old "Punch Up in Piestany." Teenagers and young adults do idiotic things, regardless of the generation.

Good win and now next game to work out the kinks before the real work starts.
Very surprised Switzerland beat Finland. That was crazy. I wonder if the Fins were intentionally losing to set their opponent for the next match. Fins want to play US? See them as weaker?

To be clear I didn't say anything about Millennials, that was the poster I quoted.
You won't find a single post of mine ragging on them.
Just for clarity, carry on..

This would be Gen Z hockey as there is not a single player in this tournament that was born in the 1900’s. If this is what they have to offer in entertainment then I’m on board. With the high flying speed and creative goal scoring count me in. As for the post goal celebrations I’m fine with all of it. It’s supposed to be fun for fans and players. These kids are playing on the biggest stage they have ever know. They are excited and loving life right now. Soon enough the NHL will crush their goal celebrations as to keep respect as the old timers call it. 😞
I coach minor hockey and love it when a kid scores and goes crazy. I see everyone at the rink smile and have a good laugh. And where did They learn these moves ? Watching the pros of course and dreaming of being that player. Oh and the Xbox of course.
