Privacy laws don't dictate what you or I can say here. We are private citizens. But the mods are official representatives of the owner of this forum. Paid or unpaid, they act on Rob M's behalf, and Alberta Outdoorsmen the company certainly is subject to the Alberta privacy law. That would be my interpretation anyway. Now AO isn't subject if it is acting in it's journalistic role (it can put personal information in a story), but I don't think the journalism defence would stand in the case of outing banned members.
But as a wise person said above, it's just a matter of class and wisdom not to discuss the issue.

Pretty much what it boils down to. Ran my own forums for years, never again - bad enough being a mod for someone elses forum, but when you have access to everything, it's a different story. People think they understand the BS that goes on in the background, they don't - until you do it on your own.

You guys hafta remember a website is PRIVATE PROPERTY and the owners make the rules - same as in YOUR house. "John Galt" would agree with me.
I got a little "out of hand" myself in a couple of posts, and I didn't even get "a word of neighborly advice" from the mods by email....
....and I read a lot of acriminous posts here which makes me think the mods are pretty 'darn' lenient.
JMO.

I think a good public posting of quotes of abusive PM's would be a strong deterrent. If people knew their PMs would be posted publicly would they still be abusive? I suspect not. Much like the wife beater often hides behind a good facade. Would they still be so abusive if they knew their private actions would be made public? I think a person should be held accountable for what they say. You say it you own it.
