Interesting day on the ice for sure.
Got set up and line down before I could see down the hole. So when my first few jigs were met with a firm tug and a screaming drag I thought.... Game On!
Much to my chagrin, what initially looked like a burb turned out to be a Muskrat hooked in the right rear haunch. Had both hooks of my "test pattern" fine copper and white bead creation buried. Needless to say he was ****ED!.
Spent 5 minutes trying to wrangle him out of a one man pop up shack and figuring out how I was gonna get him unbuttoned without loosing a digit!
Long story short he broke me off. Sadly he is still stuck.
Rest of the day was much less eventful but enjoyable. Couldn't get this out of my head...

Camera on my phone is acting up so no pics but suffice it to say smoked whites inbound!
Mmmmm
Cheers,
Scott

No whites for me today. They weren’t interested in any ww I put down the hole.
The walleye loves a dead stick yellow orange.
Whites came in hot and fast with a fast action gold spoon but wouldn’t bite.

My RCMP buddy tells me you can't smoke Cannabis in your shack on the Lake, that new shed of yours could end up being seized and sold off as proceeds of crime. I'm going back to Gull tomorrow, hope you find a auger.

I had the same today day at Gull, didn't see any whites, if tomorrow doesn't improve, I going to try Sunbreaker and make Scott envious because he took me to his honey hole and it's in my GPS.

I've purchased my wire from various places which are all noted in the Wire Worms for Whites Tread now at the top of the Fishing Home page, my favorite store is Michael's the craft store, they sell lots of different size & color of wire as well the fancy glass beads. The Fly Fishing section of most fishing stores also sell lots of components that I found/use in my W/W's. Trust this helps.

Seen quite a few trucks driving on the ice this Sunday. I went a few hundred yards north of the norglenwold launch.. ice wasn’t consistent. Some spots 5” some 9”.

Smoked Whitefish Dip. I eat Keto so the crackers are made of cheese (Cheddar, Gouda and Swiss) with a dash of "everything bagel spice".
DELISH!
Cheers,
Scott.

Hope this works, it's a Facebook link to "Meanwhile in Sylvan Lake" of a Video some guy named Eddy McLean recently posted catching a few nice Walleye out at Norglenwold, if it's this year, I can't believe the number of trucks out on the ice ... crazy!

Dec. 18th, had to be in R/D early, got home before noon went out on Sylvan after lunch, bright sunny day nice warm, didn’t see many fish until it clouded over at approx. 1:45, then the Whites started to show more of an interest in Dark Brown put on a P-Mag and bang no hesitation, decided to remove the Y/O Candy Cane & tie on a Black W/W on same rod, had lots of interest and in 10 minutes got 3 on the Black W/W and #5 shortly thereafter on the Black, departed at 2:30.
Going to Sunbreaker RR 2-2, more varity our that way & the Whites a bigger!
A few pic’s
D.
Dark Brown & P-Mag got the first one.
Black & P-Mag got the remainder.
Fishin Tip – Hook these on the back side, if you can’t put a P-Mag on your hook without messing it up, your hooks are either dull or too big for Whites.
Got a few in my Bucket.

Tks Happy & SNS2 ... around 1:30 - 2:00 pm a number of people were packing up and departing for home.
I was able to figure out what color some of the more active Whites were interested in and I believe the P-Mags helped, just got lucky, it's not the norm for post-spawn Whites in Sylvan.
Cheers
David

Hi ... Tks for the invite, however, I'm not sure if I'm going out at all tomorrow, need to deal with some banking issues for our trip down South.
If you get to Sylvan, wish you guys all the success.
Cheers

Dec. 19th …. Went out to Sunbreaker Cove, up early to see a Bty sunrise and stayed to see a Bty sunset. You won’t be driving on the lake out here anytime soon unless someone brings out an excavator or dozer the ice-ridge right at the boat launch lake access road is huge. There wasn’t many people out, the fellow next to me caught 1 small White in the mid-afternoon the other group departed early, my guess went home with an empty bucket. Didn’t see all that many fish, perhaps 5-6 inactive Whites in the morning and a few small Walleye going to deeper water, only 1 Pike in deep water. Moved a number of times & fished 3 to 18 fow, hooked 3 Whites, lost one ½ way up in deep water, the other in the hole, came home with a small White, a bit disappointing compared to yesterday, but that’s fishin. All 3 of the Whites hit the Black W/W none of the other fish showed any interest in any of my other W/W’s.
A few pic’s
D.
Morning Sunshine!
Before the Big Wind taken Dec 08th
Today ... need to take a Right Turn to get on to Safe Ice!
The Lake was cracking & groaning Today.
Looked like someone got into a fight, turned out they cut the heads off some Whites and left them on ice & down hole.
Black & P-Mag hooked 3 Whites.
Sunset at approx. 4:20 pm today

To Zip-in-Z
Thank you very much for your info. I am just starting on white fish. It looks like you put more than 2 hooks on the line. Does it work better than one hook?

David ... I drill two 10" holes side-x-side & fish 2 rods both have two W/W tied approx. 8-10" apart. I normally tie a dark color for the top hook and bright color for the lower hook, this allows me to sight fish in my dark shack and see where my hooks are at first light before sunrise or at sunset as well in cloudy water like Gull or in deep water in Sylvan, I could see my W/W in 18-20 fow at Sunbreaker the other day.
In other words working 4 different colored W/W in one hole you can quickly determine which one's the Whites show an interest in and fine tune those hooks to give them something they want without hesitation.
Trust this clarifies my technique.
Cheers
David
