I know it was as Smiths first game and all but he didn’t look great. Looked like a rookie call up and not like a 14 year vet with a little bit of off season rust to shake. He looked shakier than Rosie O’Donnell on a treadmill...

Is tonight's game on somewhere? Blacked out on TSN and not on Centre Ice.

Hey, did you guys see this Cam Talbot when he toiled with you?
Just wondering if this was a "One of" or should this be what we can grow to get used to?
The Flames - who dressed only six regulars and recalled eight players from Stockton to round out the roster on a long, there-and-back travel day - faced a veteran Sharks team loaded with primetime talent.
Joe Thornton, Erik Karlsson, Burns, Kane and many more all dressed in front of their home fans.
Talbot was under siege early as he faced a barrage of quality chances, thanks in large part to a pair of Oliver Kylington penalties that put the visitors down a man twice, less than five minutes apart.
However, the 'Goalbuster' stood tall, stonewalling Danil Yurtaykin's backdoor tap-in attempt, before scrambling back into position and kicking out the left pad to deny Karlsson's blast from the opposite circle.
It was more of the same early in the second as Talbot came out of his net to cut down the angle on a hard-charging Logan Couture, again using the tip of his left wicket to knock the sniper's backhand try to safety.
Moments later, he took another away - this time with the trapper - robbing Karlsson yet again off the right circle after the former Norris winner walked in and looked to bury, top shelf.
His finest, though, came late in the middle stanza when he robbed Kane with a ridiculous glove grab. Brent Burns orchestrated the whole thing, showing great vision and zipping a beautiful cross-ice feed over to Kane, who rifled a one-timer at the bottom of the far circle.
But Talbot was there, lunging across to cut off the angle in what was a circus-like save from his belly.
The Flames had a terrific chance to break the goose-egg shortly thereafter when Tobias Rieder broke in a short-handed break, but his backhand-forehand move was smothered by Martin Jones.

Talbot's first season with the Oilers was very good. He may do really well with Calgary's strong D core. I think that is why he was successful with the Rangers. I think Talbot is a real "confidence" goalie which can be really good but also be really bad.

Ya he has strong years and weak years. Hoping last night was just a strong game on a weak year. Haha

Did you put this part in just to make us Oiler fans feel a little better!! Sounds like the same Rieder that we all know. I for one was not sad to see Talbot go. The Oilers gave him more then enough of a chance and he lost his confidence or lack of drive or whatever you want to call it. Blame it on what you wish but you can’t blame it all on the defence.
By the way are you bragging about the Flames 4-1 pre-season loss to the Sharks last night or just trying to find something positive to talk about in a loss?????

Was really impressed with bear. Even before he scored he was winning all the puck battles and forwarding the puck well. Smith played good too. He’s for sure a puck mover.

Smith is pretty good at playing the puck for sure, Rittich freaks me out when he tries. It is not his thing yet for sure. How is Talbot at playing puck? I honestly don't know.. So id Bear going to get a shot??

Bear will get a shot this year I believe. Sure helps he’s a righty. Talbot is not known as a puck mover. I’d say he’s middle of the road in that department.

Talbot should just stay in his crease. He is scary when he tries to play pucks!

If Holland stays true to form, Bouchard will develop in the minors (like he should) and Bear will be given a real opportunity this year

Just remember midway through the season that a 0.857 SA% is "good".

I'm pretty sure I know what each team is getting with Smith and Lucic, curious if Reider, Talbot, and Neal can turn it around though.

Are you saying the Oilers can't even beat a beer league team?

Only thing worse would be Jason Moss going to the Stampeders and they go on a winning streak
