I was teaching a reserve basic training course at Griesbach back in 1984. The ex and I decided that I should go under the knife as she was having adverse reactions to the pill.
Well the day came and I took the morning off to get it done then back to base and work. That day, the course was on the rappel tower. The surgery took around 1/2 hr if memory serves. I went back to work and demonstrated the rappel down the tower...... remember the freezing??? I never thought... the pain floored me when the freezing left...
keep those frozen peas very close!!!

Hey there Bigbore, I had mine done about 5 years ago. Went to a urologist at the U of A to get it done. I think that you want to go to a Dr. that only works on equipment in that region...you wouldnt take your truck to a carpenter to get it fixed would you???
I had mine done on a Friday, the Doc told me it was a 2 beer procedure, 1 for the hand and 1 for the surgical area...
The freezing is the worst part, pretty tough to get through. The weirdest part is when he was pulling on the Vas, I swear that I could feel a vein or something pulling in my neck...pretty messed up.
I followed the rules to a T, tightie whities, and I had 3 ziploc bags of peas and rotated them all weekend long. By Monday, I was back on the cabinet shop floor working.
If you or anyone needs the name of the Doc that I had I would recommend him in a second. Pm me as I wont put it on here.
Also dont figure that all the swimmers are gone after you have had the procedure done, I took a sample in to get it tested and it came back as "rare"...Dont think that was good enough for me, so take precautions...dont need any more Big Bore jr's running around...
Good luck!!!!!!

That's funny! But I think I can trump you. No jokes... the doc who did my snip is Dr. Balharry.
It was the "no scalpel" technique and the proceedure went very well. The most painful part was when they told me to shave prior to the surgery.... well, this was quite a few years ago when shaving wasn't so en vogue and I tried to do it myself the day of. Let's just say that when he put the antiseptic on, I realized I had perhaps shaved a little too close. Ouch!!!!
My only other advice is don't let the doc try and sell you on that T3 crap. Ask for the good stuff... morphine or percocet. T3 is not a well made narcotic.

Wow, 5 pages of vasectomy chatter. Poor Bigbore, he wont know what to think. Myself and 4 of my friends have had it done. No real pain, just mild discomfort the first day, good to go 2nd day. I wouldnt worry, in and out with minimal pain is the norm. Be warned, the boys tend to drop a lot after if the dock snips to much and ties to loose.

I've been "fixed" 3 times. The first was a "scalpeless" as was suggested. We made sure to take the test. I could have fertilized India. The second try, the vas deferens had adhered to the scrotal sac and after an hour of torture by the Spanish inquisition, a mutual agreement was made that a more traditional method was needed.
Enter general anesthetic and some serious snipping. Took over a weeks recovery but the third try took.
Those plastic rings they use on lambs seem more humane.

Now you are a sports model
No big deal. Had mine done 16 yrs ago. Afterwards just some pain killers. Back to work in a couple of days. Few days after that had to make sure it still worked. It does. No complications. Worst part is providing a "fresh" sample a month later to make sure it was successful.:

Had a buddy get it done years ago, he never was the same after!
He cried at movies,
He wanted to talk about his feelings,
salmon, fusia and mauve were his new favorite colors,
A Double double turned into some weird thing from Starbucks,
He began to yoga and turned into an organic vegetarian,
He bought a ford......
Don't do it, just look at your poor dog after he got it done!
I believe a rubber ring works just as well, if your on a budget!

Ahh-The simple vasectomy- No biggie
Unless it goes horribly wrong like mine did.
Doc in High River did mine in 2009. Was going well until he quietly muttered oops!!
Three days later i started developing a spermatocele the size of a BC prune plum.
Instead of Jim and the twins -it was Jim and the triplets. Extremely painful, but only for the first 7 weeks. Got booked into the Rockyview for surgery to repair the damage and while waiting it started to subside and eventually reduced to near normal. Still a large lump off my left nut, but the surgery/repair has a poor success rate.
If you really are going to do this-GO TO A UROLOGIST-Not even kidding

Actually providing the confirmation sample of dead soldiers was the BEST part- Parked up behind Bruce Meyers place in the trees outside of Okotoks and Mama helped me produce the needed sample

had mine done while still healing from breaking my leg a couple months ago.
for me it was pretty painless compared to what others have felt or gone through. there is pain no matter what. depending on how it is done you might get the felling of a string being pulled down just above you package. for me the worst pain at the dr's was when he sprayed the balls with this chemical that creates like a harden cast around the balls. (the pain was from the chemical reaction heat. like holy crap i thought they where getting 1st degree burns.lol) the dr had problems and sprayed enough for like 2 -3 operations was not fun. i was able to have fun in bed the very next night. the big thing for me was i was able to stay lying down for several days as i hated getting around the house on crutches.
i did have a friend have his done about a month before me with the same dr. and he was in pain a month and a bit after. he did tell me the dr had some issuse during the operation. so i think sometimes it comes done to how easy was the operation is for the dr and how you heal.

Forget the local aesthetic thing in the office - go the whole route with a general on the operating table, it's a lot easier in the long run.

Wednesday feb 1 @ 2:30! That's my neutering date. Couple of perks and a few cold beers. Doc says I can drive myself home, I declined and said I would ride my horse instead.... He doesn't have a sense of humor and strongly advised against it?

Piece of cake. Great nurse who tried her best to take my mind off what was happening down below.
Took the rest of the day off and relaxed with some ice. Played golf two days later.
Good luck!

Alberta must have the worst doctors around! I can't believe how many of you have had trouble. I'd be tempted to get it done in an other province Mike.
