Thanks. I like the sounds of Lucic coming to Edmonton for the players/pick that he mentioned.

In his time in the league, Iggy has been one of the top 5 forwards in the entire NHL. It has been an absolute pleasure watching him sport the Flaming C and I wish him the best of luck in the future. It would be a great sight to see him hoist the Stanley Cup

right now not even close

Crosby, Toews, Stamkos, Getzlaf, Datsuk, Bergeron, Staal, Giroux, Perry

off the top of my head

but iginla is a good all around forward and at one point was one of the better all around forwards in the league. top 5 is a stretch

So have we moved on from trade speculation on Iggy and gone right to his eulogy now?

nobody can mimic his stats and awards because he is a unique player and a star in his own right. but if you wanted to compare awards, trophies and points you could say similar things about the value of the following

joe sakic
mike modano
steve yzerman
jeremy roenick
scott neidermayer
shane doan
peter forsberg

etc etc.

every franchise has a defining player that has been a great player and face of the franchise. no disputing iginla has been that.

Good list. Including him on that list goes to show what sort of player he is.

Can't deny Iggy's been an incredible impact player throughout his career. Given a shot with a contender such as Boston I have little doubt he'll make a big contribution...

According to Aaron Ward's twitter anyway. I wonder if they'll leak the details tonight as well.

On TSN:

"According to TSN's Aaron Ward, the Boston Bruins have acquired Jarome Iginla from the Calgary Flames.

Iginla is not in the Flames lineup for their game against the Colorado Avalanche tonight.

TSN Hockey Insider Bob McKenzie said speculation is that defenceman Matt Bartkowski, prospect Alexander Khokhlachev, and a first-round draft pick could be headed to Calgary in return.

Bartkowski was a healthy scratch for the Bruins tonight while Khokhlachev wasn't in the lineup for Boston's AHL affiliate in Providence.

TSN Hockey Insider Darren Dreger added that a formal announcement is not expected tonight."

Do you think you're talking to a Flames' fan? I know what it's conditional on. Can't really see Boston signing Iggy (unless he takes one massive paycut). They're probably going to have to let Horton walk in that case. Can't seem them taking Iggy over Horton unless it all about the $$
