Khaira will definitely not be playing next game due to concussion protocol but I’m wondering if he will get a telephone hearing with ol Georgie as that hit on Kylington was a headshot. Will have to see as it was a non call. The officiating has gone downhill over the years but I’m thinking the game is almost too fast nowadays to make proper calls...

Losing Khaira really hurt, he's a been a quality 3C and that loss totally fubar'd the line combinations. Back to Turris is a kick in the nards. So pointless...
I guess all the Barrie haters out there might get to see what life without him is like. I'm dreading it. Bouchard will be next man up, but he's not Barrie, not yet anyway. Here's hoping he rises to the occasion. Going to be tough with no practice time in the schedule coming up to work with the PP. Nurse is killing it, but not on the PP.
I'm loving the Larsson/Laggesson pairing, I don't want to break that one up. That means Bear bumps up to top pairing. He looks OK with 3rd pair minutes, I'm not sure he's ready for top pair minutes. Bouch and Russell on the 3rd pair.
I'm willing to spot Smith that one. You KNEW it was coming eventually lol. The price you pay...
Again, I do not understand the refs. I wish I know how to go through the game film. A guy could put together a mind boggling montage of "penalty" vs "non penalty" calls from that game, going both ways. I remain 100% baffled by NHL reffing...
Big game Wednesday. We need the split big time.

Agree, it was very hard to watch some of those calls being made.

So...... far out rumor...
Buffalo traded us Hall for Neal and a couple mid round picks. Buffalo retains 1/2 Halls salary.....
Thoughts?
LOTS of rumors that Hall wants back into Edmonton next year to redeem himself.
Interesting..

Bessie, it’s good to have you back, but back away from the screen and take a rest!
Jeebus, I don’t care how much Hall wants to come back, my answer is NO!
I’d love to lose Neal’s contract, but IMHO, Hall just isn’t the guy you want to add to that room, and based on his play the last year and half, I don’t see the upside or reason to take the risk. He’s not a winner. The only upside is you can cut him lose at the end of the season, but there’s got to be a better way to trade off Neals contract.
I just don’t get the attraction to Hall, but he’s the crazy ex that some Oiler fans just can’t seem to get over.

I read that rumour today. Possible.....sure. Probable....doubtful (IMO)
IF he moves I predict that he’ll go to the Islanders. Star player out for the season.....cap space available......history with Eberle......
Despite his on ice potential, I’m not so sure that we want him in our dressing room anyway.

No on bringing Hall back. That ship has sailed. Besides, Larsson's outplaying him right now... I think Hall was the guy that Ferrence was referring to about maturity, etc. in the room.
Sabres just fired Krueger.

I don't think there's any doubt, and I think 30 other GM's knew it at the time too. There's a reason he's in BUF on a one year "show me" deal...
Buffalo is definitely a dumpster fire. When your starting lineup has 4-5 ex-Oilers that weren't good enough to stick during the decade of darkness, that's a bad sign...

I would do this any day to get out of Neal's contract especially with the upcoming signings.
Only Buffalo would make this trade though.

Honestly I think the most frustrating thing so far this year has been how the WWE has trained our current batch of NHL refs.....
Its bad bad bad all over.
I'm predicting a superstar is going to be injured by stickwork or a sneak hold or something before the playoffs.
its beyond silly already! And I'm NOT just talking the OIL.

See any of the Boston Pittsburgh game last night?
Apparently head shots going uncalled, clean hits being called as majors and game suspension, super soft minors. It's kind of become a joke.
Who cares if it's a superstar getting hurt, anyone getting hurt (Khaira as an example, who I believe is now hurt because the refs didn't do their job) because the officiating is on such a slide is unacceptable.

I think you’re bang on with that, if Khaira had gotten kicked out for the head shot on the hit he made then he would not have been on the ice to deservedly getting knocked out.

Looked like a clean hit to me, elbows down, shoulder down, skates stayed on the ice, he's a tall dude...

There he is lol
From any footage I saw, what does he have to wake up from? Took a good one on the button and was knocked down. Pretty rattled. Wasn't knocked out.
What did you see?

I saw a hockey player that had NO CLUE where he was/what he was or who he was.. That was a 1000 yard stare if I ever saw it.. HOLY HELL, that was exactly what they call out on your feet.
But despite that beat down.. How is he? I really don't know and that's all that matters.

100%
Imagine if you're a player trying to figure it out. It doesn't just vary game to game, it varies minute to minute. How do you ever find that fine line you need to play on, without ever knowing where the line is at any given time? It must be incredibly frustrating...
Every other sport has got its head out of its rear and realized they need to protect their players, especially their star players. It seems so simple to me, call the game according to the rules as they're written in the rule book and BE CONSISTENT.
If your current crop of officials can't, or won't, do that. REPLACE THEM.

I understand why they need to celebrate their occasional victory. Hasn't been many. Plus they're likely still a little embarrassed about the whole Turtles debacle. Who wouldnt be?
