You got em! Great job. He's got points right down to knives it looks like. Good thing you managed him before he broke something off in the serious scuffles to come over the next few weeks. Very, very nice and thank you again for sharing your stories.

What a fantastic buck and thread! I literally just logged on hoping to hear stories and see pics of the action everyone has experienced and this was exactly what I was hoping to see!

Gotta love when your hard work pays off. Great thread to show the time and dedication and eventual reward when it all lines up!

Man, great deer Smokey and the story and history is even better. You figured him out, that’s what makes it so satisfying! The trophy on your wall will trigger all those memories. Well done!

congrats on a beautiful looking buck, I use to want to get every thing mounted but not anymore just prefer to be able to hold the antlers or horns at any time so euro know. But in saying that love the colors in the forehead of that buck will make a great mount.

One arrives this weekend and the other on the 19th. I will keep the thread running till the end. Since I tagged out early I may even pick up an elk tag to seek if I can find one but will see if there is any sign in a few spots first

It ain’t over yet

Congrats. I always follow. I make a bunch of licking branches and mock scrapes and ambush hunt them with the bow so I quite enjoy your thread.

Nicely done, I believe that I saw this deer in an Edmonton area taxidermist shop today while picking up my buck from last season!

Dropped him off at artistic taxidermy yesterday so it’s possible.

Just went back and re-read the entire thread lol.

I find the whole pursuit so interesting, especially when you can re-wind it beginning to end, seeing the picture progression, knowing the result.

I'd guess a basic 168" thereabouts main frame, a bunch of kickers and ~7" droptine, gotta be a gross score into the 175" give or take.

But score isn't important really, age and character matter!

And working several years to pattern and tag-out on a buck like this is special.
