Fake rock. It is from Nextstone. I did some on my house but had a warranty claim on probably half of what they installed. They replaced it and told me to keep what they ripped off. It worked just perfect on the cabin!!

Beautiful cabin sir. Growing up I've always wanted to be able to have a cabin somewhere. Never being able to own any land, and no family ever did, it's always just been a pipe dream.
I'm curious about yours. Obviously this is land you own? How far a drive from your home/city is it? How close is it to a roadway? (ie: do you have to Quad everything in?) Do you have a water source nearby?
What size generator and inverter are you running? I would love to have something like that.

Thank you!
Yes it is my own land. I own a section and a bit next to crown land. I use half of it for cattle and the back half bordering crown land for recreation. It is about 20 miles from town. I intend to use an eavestrough on the back side of the cabin to fill a 1000l water tank with a small 12v livewell pump for a outside shower, basin etc. I can get close with a truck if it is dry, but if not i park at the approach and quad in. I bought a 2000w yamaha inverter generator that is wired to the cabin for lights and wall plugs. It can also charge a battery connected to an inverter. I can switch between the inverter or generator with a manual switch if i dont want to hear the generator humming. To charge the battery i fill the generator with a litre of gas and when i leave i start it and it stops when it runs out of gas after about 60 minutes. Enough time to charge the 100amp battery. that whole system was a bit of an overkill but nice to have I guess.
It is a beautiful piece of property. I am very fortunate to own it

This thread is awesome, I didn't realize this type of trapper cabins still exist.
I think they're thing of the past here in Ontario.

Great job, all of you!! I haven't had the chance to see the trapping forum until now! I'm not a trapper... But ever so envious! Always wanted to be the guy to build one of these and live off the grid alone, but a wife and kids lifestyle won't allow that so I'll just live happily and vicariously through you on this page!! Thanks!!

Cabins lets see em all this is my new one
Did some upgrades today. Cleared some trees and finished the fire pit. She looks a little rough but I hauled in a few loads of gravel and it disappeared in to the forest floor. I may have to redo it when time permits

Thanks guys , it does get lots of rain. Near Powell River about ninety miles north up the coast from Vancouver. I took a load of lumber up on Friday and took a young fellow from work with me to help unload the landingcraft. The cabin is over 100 metres from shore but I've been piling my wood about 25 metres inside the treeline and then packing it up later as I need it. Well I lowered the front ramp/door and nosed into shore and tied up. We then walked into where my lumber was stacked to pick a spot for the new pile when we heard a snort to our left. We looked over and just 25 feet away was a grizzly standing there. After backtracking to the boat I grabbed a bear banger off the dash and started to screw on a cartridge thinking the bear likely went the other way I still wanted to fire one off just in case. But then the young fellow said you do know he's coming to the boat and sure enough he came through the bush right to the boat and was still coming. I fired the banger up in the air and he took off like a shot. First time I've gone up without a gun but I won't make that mistake again. Now when I work on the cabin I look around more often and if I'm doing anything for any period of time that is quiet I take out my hammer and bang the floor a couple of times just to make a bit of noise. No pics of him on the game camera by the cabin so maybe he'll leave it alone. Will continue to post pics as I progress. I'll bet if that bear had been a pokemon the young fellow would have gotten pics of it. LOL Jim

looking good jimh!!!
Do you think the bears will cause damage once you are done? are grizzlies as bad as black bears when it comes to wrecking stuff? i am having lots of black bears on my trail cams around the cabin. So far they only chewed up a lawn chair, and my propane hose. I installed an electric fence around it now. I will see if that keep them away
