Its going to be a good season.
+1 on this thread (if I haven't done that already)

As soon as I wake up, im heading to canadian tire to pick up a water jug then im off to chase partridge, meet up with landowners from last year (show my dog off) Do some preseason pheasant scouting. Order the wife to head out and get some bacon, Im gonna try bacon wrapped partridge this year and after the first hunt I hope to have my limit Its still gonna be pretty hot tomorrow down here so I have a couple w/washer jugs freezing up in the freezer as we speak, put the game in the cooler and water for the dog in the cooler too. Its nice cause alot of my properties I hunt are along side a creek so Dakota will be able to swim around alot (now if I can get her to leave the creek and get her head in the game is another story) geez Im sooooo stoked

Well had a fantastic morning
http://i1255.photobucket.com/albums/...sfirsthunt.jpg
Well first off ill start with the birds. We seen alot of em. We only hunted the one property btw. I would say we found 30+ pheasant hens of all ages. Wasnt very many roosters, BUT we were not in pheasant country lol so its to be expected. Even came across a bunch or sharpies. The huns geez musta been a hundred of em lol. I am happy to let everyone know, that the huns this year will be great!! They had multiple clutches. There were some that flushed today that I dunno how they were even able to fly, barely any wing feathers and nothing for a tail lol. Now our hunt was great, we walked one fence line got 2 outta that walk. Back to the truck for a break/water. We walked the next line got 2 more, back to the truck for a break and water. By this time it was getting pretty hot out so we took a walk to the creek and it was hilarious, just dakota out there, treading water in one spot cooling off lmao that dog is awesome Then on the way back to the truck to walk the next fenceline, bam just like 50yrds from the truck we got the last one She did awesome with holding the the birds till I got close (alot of them got flushed though, shes still trying to figure out the distance ) But I couldnt for the life of me get her to hold still for pictures, the only one I could get was of a point lol, maybe tomorrow I can get a bird/dog pic

Beautiful dog. Sounds like a great morning.
Use the bottom link below the picture on Photobucket.
We saw 4 big coveys on a short walk this morning. Looks like the birds had a great year for nesting.

i will when we go out next..have a scout group coming over tonight for some firearm safety..and it is raining....the problem i am having right now is my ridgeback is getting too smart....he has learned what it means when my weim gets birdy....so my RR will stick close by me and watch jet as closely as i do....when jet gets on to some birds my boy banjo sneaks up close and waits for a point and then charges ahead and flushes the covey...lol...not a bad system if i could get banjo to wait until i told him to flush...but he gets way too excited lol. I am going to have to start going out with just jet every once and awhile...that will break banjos heart but i need jet to stay sharp.

Abe: Quinn looks great! Handsome little dude! I'd be resting too - tussling with alligators'll take a little outta ya! Have fun with the training...and the hunting! Looking foward to more pics as he develops.
