I'm not naming any names. Not calling anyone names. But it's worth everyone stepping back and realizing that the challenge was likely posted by 260 Rem in response to what I consider a very divisive poster making claims of shooting 4 out of 5 shots, dead centre, off hand, on a pie plate at 500 yards iirc. Big arguments ensued. People were banned. Others left. All in the same time frame.
Rman stepped up and took a stab at a challenge I would see as near impossible. That doesn't mean it can't be done, but it would likely take a helluva special shooter.
The best shot I have personally seen is 260 Rem, who I would consider a friend in the context of the shooting community, but I don't think he'd even bother to try this one.
Others of you have stated that silhouette dudes do this regularly. If they do, then they are unreal shots.
I think it is fair for someone to ask for witnesses for such a shooting feat because it does seem beyond incredibly hard.
Rman, if you took Gitrdun and a few of the southern boys up on their offer, I am sure you'd find them to be A-1 guys, and I bet they'd even give it a whirl too. If you are successful, you just became the best damn shot on this board. Instantly.

I don't care who was doing the shooting, I'd just love to be a witness to that kind of greatness, because that is exactly what a successful attempt at this challenge would be.

I agree sns. After all this mud slinging I would think that 2 posters on this thread would jump at a opportunity to display their excellent marksmanship instead of backpedaling.

Talking in riddles with all kinds of assumptions is silly!
Everyone have the right to participate, including you so have at er. If you have the right equipment and the skillset, you may find that it is not so unbelievable.

I don't see why he would have to prove it to anyone. He shot within the parameters of the challenge. Nowhere in the original challenge does it mention witnesses or videos. I don't need any more proof. If he cheated then he only cheated himself. So really who cares?

Let me be very clear. I told you exactly what I thought of you once via pm. Still stands. You reciprocated. We know how each other feels.
Until you post your video, I will not respond to you directly again in a thread, pm, or any other form of communication. Should you post the video, I will apologize in person, on a forum, or anywhere else you would like. Until such time, please return the favour of not addressing me directly in any manner.

That’s exactly what I wanted to hear, glad you get it, so stop bringing me up! AO is a forum where everyone is allowed to express their opinions there are no entitlements and it's not a boyz club for a select few.
I will post my video this summer; feel free to post yours anytime.

I agree.
I have a target that fits one of the challenges, I hesitate to post it because of all the in your face/your a liar/bollshooter/ attitudes around here.

I just spent the whole day watching Rman who I consider to be a gentleman and a decent guy, being called a liar, and for what?
Why doesn't everyone just shoot and post the videos, it does not get any simpler then that, does it?????

I don't know Rman, never met him, but I believe his groups.
I did a bit of research on his velocities, if his velocities are accurate, his pressures are pretty high. My guess is his velocities are estimates, does not mean his groups are not possible.
So Rman, what was your load, how much powder?

The reason a few people, me included, second guessed Rmans' shooting accomplishment is because of the following reasons. He hit the target 3/5 shots, with peep sights, with a big bore rifle, with a super super hot load over a distance of more than 1/2 a quarter section.
When he was questioned on some of this, he would give vague answers and when pressed for more details he would get aggressive, personal and condescending to the member asking the question.
And then, when challenged to duplicate the results things get really nasty.
If it was me, i would say "Any time, any place. Bring my scotch and your chrony so we can settle this once and for all so I can see you eat crow!!"
Rman mentioned some AO members were present. Why do they not speak up and come to his defence?

One last thing sns2, I don't need any apologies, or affirmations from you. You are the person that brought me up (covertly) in your post I never brought you up did I.
I don't need any apologies or affirmations from you, because frankly I don’t care what you think about anything, nor will I ever care.
If you decide to take up the challenge, I sincerely wish the best of luck. All I ask is that you leave me out of any future posts of yours. I trust that you are in agreement.

Ive seen his magnetospeed chronograph, I would be confident that it gives accurate velocities.

Sns with the best post(s) in this thread. Not that I don't believe Rman, but you did seem pretty vague and averted questions often. In the end I have no real reason to not believe you..........except.........that edmhunter keeps fawning over you like a prepubescent girl at a Justin Bieber concert. Makes me think something fishy is happening.
If edmhunter is involved in any capacity, I call BS. Sorry RMan, reign in your fan club a little bit.

It's your kind of tripe that ruins this forum! So to be clear I have never met Rman, I consider him to be a class act because of how he comports himself on AO and your childish BS is about as welcomed as CWD.
Please keep your fantasies of Justin Bieber to youself, thanks!

As a newer member on this forum I find it very discouraging to witness the constant assault people take when things like this are posted. When 260 rem posted this challenge he did say that it was to be a gentleman's attempt and that sportsmanship was to be the main goal. If someone doesn't believe the claim to be true then that is your opinion and you are more then welcome to it. I just don't get why everyone is constantly arguing on this forum. When I first started using this forum I was excited about the wealth of knowledge some of its members have and was very eager to learn from them. Guess what? Some of those members have left because of this very BS that constantly goes on.
It's a real shame! We try to teach our kids to not be bullies at school or on the ice or whatever sport they play. To bad so many parents forget that when they get on a keyboard.

Sportsmanship has been long dead here and in a lot of the hunting world. It's the sad truth and in no place Is it more visible than here.

We have a good thread in the form of a challenge here.
Why doesn't everybody that insists on trying their damndest to get this thread shut down please use the PM function? All this is accomplishing is to keep any other members from ever submitting their results.
260...I'd try but there isn't a point. I know I am not good enough. I have a hard time hitting the 300 yard gong 3/5 offhand.

Good call Cowtown guy! This is an excellent challange that 260 posted, too bad so many want to destroy it. Like the guy from Vancouver or other people calling other members liars and taking them to task for their personal entertainment!
I personally hope that one of the mods sees the tripe that FreeLantz wrote and suspends him or her for a while, like banned for life!

9 pages of absolute crap. Well done, slow clap for you clowns. 9 pages and one group posted, 1. And the fellow gets crapped on.
Any of the naysayers ever shoot with a peep sight? Ever go to a silhouette shoot ? I witnessed a fellow in Warner shoot a ram 5 for 5 with a peep sight with a 30-30, on the first round, he was the first to admit the stars aligned.
Nice shooting R. Thanks for taking the time to post.
I think I'll give this one and the rest of the challenges a go now that work in the patch has settled down.
Maybe the mods can delete 8 pages of BS and get the spirt of the challenge back in order????
Talk about a crap shoot......

What Rman did is awesome shooting and that's the kind of shooting the metallic silhouette community routinely does. These guys and gals are the rifleman's rifleman.
The naysayers would indeed get an education from attending, and better yet shooting, at a metallic silhouette match. Someone somewhere told me a few years ago not to project my limitations onto others, which is advice that I needed to hear at the time.
