Carburn is not in the regulations but I called F&W last year about it and it the lady told me it is open all year and the regs are bait allowed but no bait fish. Does anyone know if it is ice free yet? I work close so I may take a quick drive by to check. They dont stock the ponds and the perch were put in years ago illegally and the pike got in from the river I think. I have been there about 4 times since last August and twice on the ice and never got skunked. I still have not caught a perch there yet because they move so much because of the pike. The action is usually pretty good right after ice out so I am excited to go.

i was thinking about using a slip bobber with a glow jig and a gulp shad

i was not to sure as to use a spinnerbait and slow roll it for the pike

Go with a red and white or black and white Len Thompson retrieved slowly. Also try slip bobber with a jig tipped with a chink of smelt. I have had the best results with those setups. I have seen guys catching pike on the fly there too but I have not had any luck for them hopefully this year will treat me better. For perch use a slip bobber with maggots. Shoot me a PM if you want to go sometime I work close and enjoy fishing there.

Isn't there a big hole in the berm and now the pond is attached to the river?

Ya there is a hole but it is blocked off with rocks. I am sure the odd fish gets in or out there.

Not in the first pond no. But in the second there is yes Pike and Perch. In this pond it is a good idea to practice C&R. As it is a small place with limited fish. Not that you will get skunked I spent 20 or so days on it this winter and never got skunked once. but if fish are killed in there it wont take long to kill the pond its self. The third pond is open to the Bow so you will expect anything that you can find in the Bow. The north side of the second pond is shallow 7FOW or so at most. but the south east corner till about half way down to the west is 30FOW in spots with a sand bottom. A indicator and a small smelt will produce pike in the shallows. Try jigging in the depth or toss a few spinners. The perch in there are real small and hard to catch. But if they are not targeted this winter should produce some eatable fish. Please respect this pond as it is a little gem here in the city. And left alone for another year would be a wonderfully place. It is perfect for some hard water action.

is the 3rd pond hard to catch trout? is there lots of them in there? you said its connected to the bow but do they venture in and out quite often?

and no worries, i am C&R fisher only, unless its out of a stocked trout pond =)

It held some fish in the winter yes. As how it will be now I am not sure I just use this place as a hardwater spot. But if there are fish in there I would guess that this will be the best time of year to hit them. I have heard of some BIG browns lurking in the third pond but am yet to see one.

Tried fishing there after work today as it looked to be a nice day and had a few hours to kill but got blanked out in the third pond. Tried rubber jigs, different spoons and some smelts. Did have a big splash three feet from shore close to me so there's definitely stuff in there still. Quite a lot of others fishing the pond but saw no one catch anything.

Nice spot to fish from cause you can switch up fishing from the pond to the bow almost instantly. It was sunny but damn cold with the wind today. It'll probably visit it again more now that I've figured out it only takes 10 min to get there from work. Might even go relax there for lunch

Yup, I was fishing up the west bank side. Was wondering if you got anything before I arrived but I guess not. How deep is it on the east side?

The second pond also has weed and grass problems, not worth the go.
