The N. Sask at Rocky was still ice free several days ago.
One had to wonder who picks up the cost?

That's nothing compared to a bunch of sledders on the Athabasca that tried to run open water middle of the night and very drunk, near Whitecourt. This was a few years back.
All experienced riders. Not all of them were young and stupid.
Some not found until next spring.

I recall back around 1998-1999 a trucker went through the Mckenzie river ice bridge with a super b of fuel. Didn't want to wait in the line up to get on the ferry. IIRC the ice bridge was just being built and only rated for 4500KG.
