Chase Heck Memorial Award 2017
Last night at the annual AFGA awards night we presented the second annual Chase Heck Memorial Award for the largest big game animal taken by a youth. This award is open to all youth hunters in the province of Alberta you are not required to belong to a fish and game club to qualify. This years winner was Trystan Martyn from Sundre who harvested a 14 11/16 cougar with his bow. Trystan received an Alberta plaque, carhartt hoodie, binoculars as well a cheque from Downtons Transport for $250 which he told us he is going to use to pay for his cougar mount. Great job Trystan he was very excited to discuss the hunt with us after the awards presentation. This award is in memory of our son Chase Heck who loved to hunt and be in the outdoors. In 2012 Chase harvested the largest typical mule deer in Alberta as well he was awarded with the Alberta outdoorsmen hunter of the year. Please share this youth hunting award around as it is a great way to recognize our youth hunters as they will be the face of hunting and fishing in this province
