Default bait fishing rivers

Are p-rigs a good choice for fishing in rivers? Or is there a better setup for catching those walleye?

p rigs do work well and so does the lindy rig, you should be able to google search and find out how a typical lindy rig is set up. or even a traditional jig and soft plastic were allowed is also good.

I'm a pretty big fan of 3-ways, and I'm not talking about college.

Not sure if there is a name for the rig, but,

a weight on the bottom, then a light leader, then your 3-way tied off to your heavier line and a line to your bait. the line to weight should be the weakest link.

Pickerel rigs are *okay* but they're far from ideal. Cheap hooks and components that can fail when you need them the most. Personally, I don't trust them.

That being said, the 3 way swivel rig that BeeGuy mentioned is a safe way to go - as is anything you tie yourself really. Then you know what line, hooks, etc go in to the rig.

Personally I tie a rig with my weight on the end of the line, and one or two snelled hooks coming off my main line which then stand out from the main line in the current

X2....put an elastic band between the line and the weight and you get a real sensitive bottom bounce
